Question about Thermador SM272 Electric Double Oven
My Thermador 2002 manufactured date SM272ZS combo microwave/oven has been a great oven. I noticed two times ago that my scones were all coming out with very dark bottoms when I baked them on both bake and convection mode. I just baked again and the bottom pan burned the bottom of my cookies. I called the repair guy and it is $150 bucks just to come out and look at the thing. I am wondering if I just need a new bottom coil? When I bake even at moderate temperature 350, the oven produces a burning smell I am assuming from the food which shouldn't be burning after 10 minutes at 350... HELP! any ideas? we are handy and would love to get this done ourselves.

Woke up this morning and heard my smw272 built-in oven beeping.
Oh no! First the display (but at least the oven worked) now the
oven is beeping (fault signal according to manual) and the thing
is dead except for the microwave and warming bin. The only
way to turn off the incessant beeping--which was driving me crazy--was
to go outside to the fuse box and turn off the circuit to the
oven. Yeah, I stopped the beeping but now I'm at the mercy of the
unscrupulous service repairman--was quoted a flat fee to drive
out and a hefty hourly rate (i.e., "value added" service charge).
OUCH! Hey folks, please follow my simple advice if you want to
avoid making a big mistake: NO MORE THERMADORS. RUN--DON'T
WALK AWAY FROM THIS BRAND!!!

SOURCE: Bake element does not heat
After removing the racks, rack rails and the back plate I removed the 2 screws the hold the bake element. Lifting the front of the bake element up and carefully pulling the element out and gently moving the element so the connector clear the hole I was able to disconnect the wire. After testing for continuity with an ohm meter (non found) I determined the element need to be replaced. $37 and 45 minutes total.

I just found out my baking oven doesn't work and I hear the fan for the convection roast, but no heat. I had the appliance man out and he said that I need a relay board! Big bucks and they don't make this model anymore. Moreover, the microwave and warming drawer work fine. This is ridiculous!
