i found the motor and sprayed can air around it good...it runs a couple minutes now, but not near as long as it should. Should i spray the motor again, or is there something else i should try.

    thank you,

    mindy

I had the same problem with Mom's brand new unit, right out of the box. I suspected the overload protector was malfunctioning and causing the short run time. I found the overload protector, inside the switch housing. It looks much like a little square capacitor, connected to the on-off switch. Sure enough, bypassing the overload protector solved the problem of short run-time. Of course, that voids the warranty and now Mom has to listen carefully for signs of slow-down from string-jams and clear these promptly -- but she understands that, fine.

I turned mine over, and took out all the little tiny screws. There are 10 of them. Then 1 by 1 I took each gear out and cleaned the cat hair from around it, then put it back together. Mine works perfect now.

Be careful, I suggest disassembling one corner at a time and putting it back together as you go.

Good Luck

The only answer is that it is overheating the motor and there is a protective shutoff sensor that prevents it from burning up the motor. The air intake is blocked still. You said that you cleaned it really good but there is still a blockage somewhere. Find that blockage and it will be repaired. If not it WILL eventually burn the motor bushings.

Well in my opinion since you now have a tangible result then there is an overheating problem in that motor. Is there any air intake where it pulls in to cool that motor? You did something that helped when you sprayed around the motor area. Try it again and then see if there is any area that may be blocked that is an intake that serves to cool that motor. Is this one of those vacs that rolls on a ball ? If so the motor intake may be under the top section of that ball assembly. Let me know.

My swivel sweeper handle snapped right off where it is supposed to lock in place. Do they offer replacement for this?

You would need to check with the company where it was purchased. Some merchants just 'even-exchange' if you bought from a local retailer. Depends also on model/price. If it is lower-end item to begin with, may not be worth your trouble.

Swivel sweeper brushes slow with full charge even after cleaning brushes

When you say you cleaned out brush's are you talking about the build up between the bristles? I've found that I have to take the roller completely off and use fine needle nose tweezers to actually get all the stray hairs and caked on dirt as it hides close to the inside of the brush rollers. It's a bit more work to do this but I think you might benefit from this extra step!
Good Luck!!!

What would cause this to shut off after a few minutes of use with full battery charge

1) test the power cord for open, broken, loose or defective with VOM
2) test the outlet wall, for ground improperly, and repair.
3) Most of the time is THERMAL fuse, replace or fix it.
God bless you

My Shark vacuum sweeper will run for 10 minutes and shut off. After it sets for 15 minutes it will run for 10 minutes more.

If it runs on NiCad batteries it probably has programmed batteries which can happen, best solution, get new battery, and use til dead before recharge, every time.

My vacuum is constantly shutting itself off. When

It sounds like you have a blockage somewhere and the air is not passing over the motor to keep it cool. There is usually a thermostat mounted either on or near the motor. The blockage can be anywhere from the elbow ( the swivel part of your carpet sweeper if you have a canister vac) up thru the hose.If you have a canister vac, use a broom handle to push through the hose to clear the blockage. DO NOT ! use a coat hanger or anything that will cut or tare the hose. There are electrical wires in it that have 120 volts and causes quite a shock !
.
If you have an upright vac, start with the duct hose that comes from the part with the brush up to the hose and on to the main canister of the vac
If this does not work, take your vac to a reputable vac shop for repair. Hope this helps,
Joe

Swivel sweeper stops running. I purchased a new charger and a new battery and the same thing happens.

Sometimes on the corless sweepers, the internal connection where you inster the charger on the vac will break or be bad. take it in for repair for an estimate.
