Transponder chip in key fob

Hi there i have a 97 sharan tdi just bought a key fob correct one from ebay could i put my transponder chip in key key fob and programe it to my car

This will all depend upon what country you are in, and if the vehicle even has the need for the chip to be programmed at all.

When you put a proper key in the ignition, is there a antitheft logo that cycles with the other indicators?

VW antitheft indicator in the USA often looks like a car with a key under it

In the USA, thought the keys have a MEGAMOS RFID chip, no system was active until 2000, and on some models, not until 2002

A system requires a VIRGIN chip. Once the chip is programmed to a car, the chip is locked to that car. Some new software can unlock and refresh some chips, but not 100%

I had a client come in TODAY with a 2003 Passat, and an EBAY flip key.... I wasted a half hour programming time..... but I carry the lower half of remote, which hold the blade and the chip, so was able to fix client up, when EBAY failed.

My key doesn't have a chip in it for my 2001 Chevy S10. So how is it the the passlock or passcode causes problem? This is trouble some as this

Although some keys do not have an embedded transponder, such keys are designed to give access to the vehicle only and not to allow engine starting.

To allow engine starting there must be an embedded transponder in the key, programmed with the correct code.

In the early days of passive immobiliser systems some manufacturers used a key fob to operate the central locking and to house the rice-grain-like transponder chip. Sometimes the key or the fob would break and the owner would attempt to start the engine fruitlessly as the fob would be in a pocket or handbag (purse). The car will lock and unlock with key fob but when you put key inti ignition and turn to start car will not start

Year make and model helps. Older models don't have a chip/transponder in the key and the security would work with the fob or unlocking the door with the key. Newer models have to receive the signal from the transponder. It could be the key, receiver, wiring , or the BCM.

I want to put my key fob with transponder inside the car and use a regular non-chipped key to start the car. Where do i put the fob/chip key so the regular non chipped key will start the car?

Bought used RX 300, master key fob broken, flat key doesnt work

You can get empty key cases on ebay, open the old key case and remove the transponder with the buttons on it and transfer it to the new key case, no programming necessary because you are using the same transponder, al that's left then is to have the key cut to fit the ignition switch.

1999 vauhall zarira flashing engine light,starts but want run

Hi when you say it starts do you mean it turns engine over but not running , if so open you key fob up to see if the small transponder chip is still there it will be on the side of the main prt of the fob itself as most of the time these fall out when keys are dropped and deprecate losing the transponder chip if it is still there and no spare key you will have to get it recoded/ chipped

My peugeot 406 key is falling apart, if i bought a new key fob how do i reprogram it myself?

you dont just take teh little black chip out of old key and put it in new key or tape it to teh transponder behind the shroud on the column

Hi, got a 1998 vw sharan, only came with 1 key (not remote) i have bought a remote fob off ebay with reprograme instructions, which state to unlock the drivers door 3 time and the door led will stay on...

Check whether the fob has a transponder chip in it, if the unit is a bare shell blank remote then you will need the transponder fitted to be able to program it . The only alternative is to have the immobiliser turned off . Not a cheap service.
