My check engine light is on my 2006 v-6 chevy 1500 4x4

"change oil soon" appears on the dash, even though i change it regularly, and when it is scheduled to be. How do you reset it after you change the oil.

    Reset the oil life system Press and hold the control stem for more than two seconds while OIL LIFE is displayed. When completed, the system will reset and a beep will sound



    2ND METHOD

    TURN THE KEY TO ON BUT DONT START IT. LOOK FOR THE OIL LIGHT TO BLINK AND STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL 3 TIMES . IT SHOULD CLEAR IT

Regular maintenance is needed for oil changes. If your oil level is dropping you need to keep it up to operating level but you do need to find out why it is burning or losing oil. If your oil is black then it needs to be changed regardless of the miles on it.

Oil pressure light stays on even though the oil level is fine
That could be from not having any oil pressure "oil pump failure, clogged filter, etc" or from a faulty oil pressure sending unit. More tests would need to be performed but is it really an oil pressure light or is it the change oil light. More info would be needed

Oil pressure light on after oil was changed
I would call whomever did the oil change as soon as possible. They may have not put the cap back on or may have not even put the oil in. Don't drive it! Without oil your engine will damage itself pretty badly.

Service engine soon light
The service engine soon could be an indicator that you need to have minor maintenance done in the near future. I had a Grand Am that the service engine light would turn on when I was getting close to needing an oil change. You might check your owners manual for an exact reason as to why it turns on.

A engine symbol with a wrench attached continues to appear on the dash of my 2006 chevy equinox
I know of no such warning light on the 2006 Chevy Equinox that shows a wrench with an engine. The wrench with an oil can beside it means that there is scheduled maintenance required as listed in your owner's manual. You will see this when it it time to change the oil. The light that shows an engine is the Check Engine light and comes on when there is a problem with the emissions system. It requires that the ECU be scanned with a scan tool to retrieve the code that has been set. A trained professional will use this code to repair the problem.

My change oil light never goes off even though I had it changed and now my service vehicle soon light is on even though its been running fine
The change oil light needs to be reset after each oil change...some shops are not knowledgeable on how to do this...Your owners manual will instruct you how to reset the oil change light...The service engine soon is a catch all for low fluids and other needs...Be sure to check your oil level again...to clear the service engine soon light, you can disconnect either battery cable for 15 minutes then reconnect...if the service engine stays on...then you need to have your Grand Am checked...Auto Zone does a free diagnostic of check engine light codes...:)

How do I get the change engine oil soon message of the dash display?
It's in the owners manual too but with the key on and the engine off fully depress the gas pedal three times watching the oil change soon light and it will flash and go out, then start the car. it'll stay off till it calucates that it needs changed again.

The oil light is reset by the tech on each service. It will not go off by itself. As far as the check engine light goes you now have a code stored and you will need to get it before we can begin to diagnose. Change Oil Soon light won't go off even after changing the oil.
You are able to reset it. The directions are in your manual:

1. press the options button under the screen utnil ENGINE OIL MONITOR appears on the DIC screen

2. Press the set/reset button to reset the system

The next screen indicates that the engine oil monitor system has been reset.

If the message is still on...try steps again
