White smoke, very bad fuel loss, stalls when trying to idle

Jeep cherokee. Ran with no white smoke and was good on gas usage, though you could feel slight hesitant on gear shifts..
What happened is one day it didnt want to start, acted as if the battery died over night. I tried to jump start it. Found out he battery is fine, but it will not turn over as if not recieving gas. Took it in to get fixed.. A day later with a 340.00 bill, the truck starts now but with these symptoms that were not there prior before taking it in (white smoke, burns gas like hell, stalls when idle have to keep foot on the gas peddle, and now two missfire spark plugs perhaps)

I have a 1998 Jeep grand cherokee larado a couple of days ago we ran it out of gas twice. Next day there is a burning smell after u drive it for awhile and it sputtered. But still we could get around. Now...

Your fuel pump is bad. The pump is in the fuel tank, and the fuel itself acts as a coolant to keep the pump cool. When you run out of gas, there is no fuel to cool the pump and it can burn up. You need to replace the fuel pump.

When you run out of fuel you

Can't have a clogged fuel filter as you change that
every few years

My 96 grand cherokee studders and stalls when i come to a stop and when i hit the gas to start driving again it studders . it feels as if the fuel is not getting by

Check the fuel filter, then, if you feel like it's a problem with fuel. It sounds to me, though, like it's probably the EGR (this regulates how the leftover gas vapor gets re-introduced into the gas mix). Check the air filter while you're at it. You might also end up replacing the mass airflow sensor.

I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Country that started acting as if it were going to stall (almost like it was running out of gas) about a week ago. I changed the fuel filter and added a bottle of gumout fuel...

It appears that the fuel pump might be going bad. To eliminate this possible cause, have the pump output pressure tested by a mechanic. It is located in the tank. The pressure test can be done in about 1/2 hour at a good garage. The fuel pump replacement, a four hour job, costs ~$500.00.

Car stalling with air conditioner on

hello, it sounds like the ECT (engine coolant temperature sensor) is failing, the sensor communicates with your computer and has affect on fuel usage, it is common for bad sensor to allow too much fuel and cause cylinder flooding, this in turn will lower cylinder compression and cause miss, black smoke, check engine lights, easy too overlook without propper diagnostic equipment, easy too change and fairly cheap! good luck, marty

94' jeep cherokee laredo..white smoke when i'm parked or stopped

Your Jeep is Burning Oil. Do you need a Quart every Now and Then? The only way to fix this is to get the Piston Rings Replaced and is not Cheap. There are a Few Additives on the Market that you can put in the Motor to Minimise the Problem for a While. You need to go to Your Auto Parts Store and see what is available in your Area on these though. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!
