I already finalze the dvd andwhen i try to play it on my dvd player it comes out as an error so it won't play the dvd. I also tried to put it on my compter and the dvd is blank. I put it back on the camcorder and it will play there.
Your computer won't allow you to move the file (your video) while windows has it open and playing the video. Stop the playback exit the program your playing it with.
Go to Start, then choose Computer and find the DVD listed in your drives. Double click the drive and a folder will open with your video listed there. Simply highlight it, right click your mouse and choose copy. Open another folder on your C drive (make a new one if you want to) and paste it in the new folder. Done!

Do this: Get a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol. The swab should NOT be dripping, just a little moist. Take the Q-Tip and clean the laser 'eye' using small circles and start from the center and work out to the edge. Then give the finalization another try. If that doesn't work, try another disc and see if it will finalize (after recording something - anything). If the unit still does not finalize - it's time to either go shopping for new, or get the unit repaired. Here's a link to Sony's repair: Sony eSupport Service Repair
depends what type of disc-rw's won't highlight sometimes because they don't always need to be finalized to play-insert the disc if r in another brand and see if you can finalize-go to bb or circuit and ask them if you can stick it in display and see if it comes up-if never proably was done already-also try different dvd players
alot depends on type of disc and certain players- if -r disc make sure it was finalized-if you try a -rw it may work unfinalized right out of cam-there is always the posibility your dvd player may never play them-belive me it is a ton of trial and error-i have 5 players in house and when i burn video it doesn't always work in all of them!
Thanks making sure I was in play mode with the adapter plugged in worked. The trick was remembering what play mode was--that's where you can see the scenes on the playback screen, not the screen you see when you are looking to record something.
There's no way you can continue the finalization of the disc, the disc has been marked as finalized already, even a single power fluctuation when you are using ac power adaptor can affect the disc finalizing process, so it is better to use battery when disc finalizing
