Want to get front panel off Acer Desktop - Help!

I'm not noob but I can't figure out how to get the front panel off this desktop to add second DVD drive.
The User's Guide is no help - no diagrams or instruction on removing even the side panel, which was easy enough.
Saw a post by thomaskenney about installing a DVD RW drive - Thomas, if you could let me know the way to get this panel off I'd appreciate it!

I've searched the web for a week and can't find any guides/manuals, and Acer is no help.

Please - I don't want to damage the front panel/case but I'm almost frustrated enought to grab a hacksaw.

I'll try that - sorry for the dumb request, but I'm spoiled by Dell and Compaq/HP machines that have diagrams.instructions in User Guide and even put tabs for the front panel on the side where the easy-to-open side panel comes off.

I'll try it out and rank it fixed if I see a way to get it off.

I'll try to post the pics that show the process of removing the other side panel and then show the plastic 'tabs' that you press in to loosen the front panel.

    Thanks again LEECOM72!!

Hi there
take off both the side panels, and look for screws behind the front panel, also look underneath the front panel for possible screws, once the screws have been removed the front panel should pop off and you will able to add your drive.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!

I want to put my acer motherboard into a tower as the flat desktop model is taking up too much space but I will need to know exactly where everything connects to the board (power, front panel,, on/off,...

Only a true Acer manual for this model of PC could assist you. They provide a special connector in this model, for the front panel connectors, that cannot be simply connected in a standard Desktop or Tower case.

Replace the optical drive on Acer Aspire m1201

based on the images i've looked on for the Aspire m1201, you don't need to remove the front panel in order to remove the optical drive. if there are screws holding the drive in, remove them and then slide the drive forward. if its held in by sliding latches and not screws, then slide then in which ever direction necessary and then push the drive forward to take it out.

How do i remove the front panel to change CD/DVD drive? I do not have a manual for my desktop - I can remove the side panel but not the front panel. thanks you

You need to remove the side and then remove the front. The front is connected by latches which are on the top bottom and opposite side of the machine. Once you do that the drive should slide out the front of the machine. You may need to use a flat head screw driver to get the panel off.

Opening front of AAspire M3201 case

The front panels usually are held in place with tabs. Take off the left side panel first, then the top and right side should slide off. You will need to remove any screws along the back and top edges first.
Good luck.

I can't find a decent picture of your case online or a service manual.

Can you take some pics and post them on photobucket or something?

I need to see the front and back of the desktop.

Acer aspire t135 desktop doesnt start

Howdy...
I would shed the loads and measure the power supply (pinouts available everywhere on net) what that means is disconnect the drives and I/O cables to them (at the MOBO). Remove any recently added cards or ram . You should be able to see video and/or beeps if voltages are reasonable . A spare power supply would be handy .
Slowly add things until failure shows or if MOBO seems at fault ,try your stuff in another PC . There has been rash of swollen/leaking caps 'round these parts due to bad power supplies or bad caps . Bad power supplies can destroy the MOBO . Changing these caps will often resurect a MOBO
but this is not for the inexperienced desolderer as these
boards are multilayer .

Good luck
