Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+

1 Answer

I think I've accidentally activated the lock feature...

...because the wall mount works but the remotes do not. My unit is very old and I don't see a little "padlock" button on the wall mount. How do I deactivate the lock feature? Thanks!

Thanks, Marty, for responding! It is a Sears Craftsman and I think the unit is about 25 years old. I'm at my office so can't look at the housing to find model #, but I have one of the remotes with me -- the sticker on the back has 4 white boxes containing: K1026 05/94 (date) 139.53779 HBW0709 (very faded so some #s might be wrong) I think the motor housing is black. The wall button is about 4"x4" with just one long white button at the bottom, and it is now continuously flashing green, but works fine -- there is no lock button but I'm wondering if I somehow locked out the remotes. I don't have the manual -- just bought the house a year and a half ago. Thanks for your time -- Pat

P.S. -- don't know if this will help but the remote (also Sears Craftsman) is 3-1/2" x 1-1/2", black with 3 white buttons -- from left to right there are two small buttons and then a longer button. The remote also has a small green light in the right hand upper section -- the light comes on when you press each button but the remote doesn't open the garage door. Thx!

Does logic board on motor have a small pushbutton or dip slide switches? If pushbutton, push it for 10 seconds. let do. panel light stop blinking? Unit somehow got into lock mode, even though you do not have lock button. If this has stopped light from blinking, you now have to code remotes and or keypad back in. Push the little buton for 1 second and push a remote. Light bulbs on unit should blink. Take next remote (or keypad) and repeat this sequence for each one. Let me know. If you have safety beams, liftmaster should help you. w/o beams they will not support.

I have Onida TV Model 21 inch , I accidentally enable the features of volume lock, hotel mode and channel lock and I cannot reset the same. Due to this, I cannot increase volume of telivision

MIGHT WORK IF YOU:
Turn off tv with remote, that is standby, then turn off tv with switch or unplug from wall. Wait a few minutes until led lights go off on tv. plug tv back in. try pushing vt on remote and power button on tv at same time.
If this doesn't work try contacting a local retailer, they always have a list of codes for their salesmen.

the inside unit should be mounted with a slight tilt to the outside - so the water can drain outside.
also - be sure your drain hole (in the unit) is not plugged - either with dirt/debris.

Taking apart the hand held remote won't serve any real purpose as none of the parts inside are replaceable. Since you have 3 different units, with 3 different hand held remote. I'm wondering, if perhaps, you're using the wrong remote on that one unit. As each one has a different remote code.
In addition, I have learned from experience, that if the display screen on the hand held works, the problem is not in the hand held. Now, that's not to say, Operator Error can't play a role in it. But, most times, it's the receiver in the unit, that may be causing the problem. Or the hand held is to far away or something is blocking the signal in between.

Almost every appliance we sell, has a radio frequency remote control. The most problems we incur is with weak or dead batteries or operator error. The problem with batteries is that you don't now how long they sat in a warehouse, before making to a retail outlet and then how long they sat on the shelves there, before they were sold. They may have enough power to activate the handheld remote, but not enough to transmit a strong signal. So, check the strength of the new batteries you installed.

Hope this helps and thanks for choosing FixYa.

My panel in garage blinks on and off and I cannot open the garage door from my car

Most of the time, that means someone has accidentally activated the Remote Lock Out feature on the inside wall mounted door opener switch. Check your Owners Manual for instructions on how to deactivate this.

Garage door wont work with remote

If the small light in your wall control is blinking it is in the lock mode. Press and hold for 3 seconds the button with the icon of a lock. This will toggle the lock function off.

Then pusj for 1 second and activate a remote button. lightbulb on motor should blink. if so, hit learn again for 1 second and push button on other remote. Do you have a LOCK or VACATION button.
