Question about Nikon D80 Digital Camera with 18-135mm Lens

1 Answer

LCD viewing monitor has "optimize image" screen on it

Whenever I hit the playback button, a white lettered screen appears, saying "optimize image, iso, white balance, size, etc..." I cannot seem to get rid of the writing, unless I view the screen by 4 or 9 shots. I even tried resetting by hitting 2 green buttons. Would love to figure out how to get to a plain LCD picture screen. If anyone can assist me I would be quite appreciative.

My Canon 40D LCD monitor when displaying a photo has just started displaying white sections of a picture as alternating black then white. The rest of the photo is fine just the white flashes. Any idea what...

It's possible that your Highlight Alert is enabled. Over-exposed areas of your image will blink to indicate blown-out whites. If you don't like this feature, go to the Menu, under the second blue tab (for playback), look for Highlight Alert and Disable it. When viewing the image on a computer, the blinking will not appear however. It's just to warn you that some parts of the image is so bright that all detail is lost. I enable mine so that I know this and is able to make adjustments on the ground.

The Monitor screen doesn't work when I want to take a photo, I can only see picture through eye piece.

If your screen works in playback mode, the screen and flexible circuit boards are intact. To shoot an image using the LCD screen you must first activate the "live view" function in the setup menu, and then press the live view (Lv) button to view your image on the LCD.

I'm unable to get a full size image on my D80's monitor.

You must have accidentally hit the Thumbnail button while viewing photos (the one with a magnifying glass and 4-way arrow). Press the Playback Zoom button (bottom one with just the magnifying glass) to go back to single frame view. If you keep pressing the Zoom button it will zoom in further on the image you are viewing, and you can use the arrows to move around in it.

Can't turn off/disable optimize image screen- nikon d80

Ok, all you need to do is:

1.Hold the camera normally like you would take a picture.

2.Turn it on and review a picture.

3. While looking at a picture, take your index (pointer) finger and rotate the front "wheel" right under the shutter release button. This switches the viewing mode, and should solve your problem.

I have a Nikon d70, and I can not get it to display only one image on the LCD screen. I have held down the button on the top right side as directed, but to no avail. Help Jb

Push your playback button once the camera is on.
Then push you your thumbnail button. (this is the second button from your playback)
watch your monitor and keep hitting the thumbnail button until you get to the single picture view.

to my knowledge digital slrs aren't supposed to show you the image on the screen before you shoot because the battery would get used up too quickly this is what the viewfinder is for and the lcd is purely there to tell you info on what the settings are and to view your pics after shooting, I have the 400d and its the same for that.Hope this helps

Powershot S1 IS trouble shooting in images of lcd monitor

Try playing back pictures you know were captured properly ( either with another properly working camera or with your camera before the problem with quality has appeared ). If the image is ok in playback but 'noisy' in capture mode then the CCD sensor is faulty /on its way out. Ask Canon if they repair CCD faults on this model free of charge.
