Did you make any changes to the computer prior to the issue?

This issue may occur if one or more of the following conditions are true:
a) The basic input/output system (BIOS) does not detect the hard disk.
b) The hard disk is damaged.
c) Sector 0 of the physical hard disk drive has an incorrect or malformed master boot record (MBR).
Note: Some third-party programs or disk corruption can damage an MBR.
d) An incompatible partition is marked as Active.
e) A partition that contains the MBR is no longer active.
Method 1
I would suggest that you update the basic input/output system (BIOS) to the latest version by contacting the motherboard or computer manufacturer and check if it works.
Important: Modifying BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk.
BIOS: frequently asked questions
Method 2
If the above step fails then I would suggest that you perform startup repair on the computer and check if it works.

Lights but no boot

Are you using a desktop or laptop. Is OS already installed on the system?
Start your computer and press F2 key while booting and before the logo appears.
Check for the boot menu, and see whether your first boot device is your hard disk of the system or not.
If not then do that and in case of desktop if you have more than two hard drive just check whether the first boot device is your that hard drive on which the OS is installed or not.
I guess, it will resolve the problem. For further assistance, you can avail our technical support by visiting our website:

Hai my name is laman my lenovo laptop just haveasmall problem it's displays only press {f2} for set up press f12 for boot device selection & can not execute so any one please solve this problem

Pressing F2 is the shortcut key to enter in cmos setup or bios settings where you can setup interrupt request and the direct memory access and also changing system date and time. While the F12 key is a shortcut key where you can select a boot device which are the hard disk drive if it's loaded with the operating system like windows xp or windows 7 etc., and if you are going to install or reformat your computer select the cd/dvd room drive to be the boot device. Supposedly the computer will load after the F2 or F12 appears on your screen if you have the functional operating system. But if your computer still restarting and always appearing on your screen the said F2 and F12 keys that means it is required to be reformat your computer. But before that you try to tapping F8 key while turning on your computer and select safe mode and press enter, after loading and still restarting that is the time to format your computer but you must back up your data or files that you saved on your computer. Call a computer technician or IT that know how to back up and can format your computer. Have a nice day.

Copying video clips from the internet onto DVD

hi, you can find free codecs, which are pretty much the descrambler codes to play audio and video, on go to downloads section and search for them. look for the free codecs they work the same as any others.
next. your gonna want to convert your videos to Nero Digital (MP-4 format) this makes it less chances of some videos not playing back, and the dvd not playing at all.
then follow steps in nero to convert them,
burn to disk using make your own dvd. just add the converted videos and burn. be sure to remember where you saved the converted videos.

System restore

Put the disk in and boot from cd when you see the splash screen.

as soon as its on, try hitting F12, it should tell you on the first screen when it flashes the POST screen as soon as you turn it on. usually F1 is to go into the bios, F12 goes into Boot selection, allthough it may be F11.

Then select " boot from CD" and hiot any key to continue, loads disk and you follow the instructions from there.

Computer stops working

I assume this appears on your computer shortly after you power it on, but before it would normally load the desktop. If so, the easy solution is to reinstall the computer. The specific error you're getting is telling you that while windows was loading up, it couldn't read your drive. It's either missing files, or it has become corrupted.
However, if you reinstall it, you'll first need to backup all your data. There is another method you can try also. Many times, dell will give you a real windows cd with your computer, and label it a restore disk. If so, you can put in the CD, and boot from it. It will open a windows installation screen, and you can choose to do a repair install. Be cautioned though; by pressing the wrong buttons in that installation screen can make you lose all your files! So be careful.

I dont think there is a boot disk for the actual board unless your talking about the firmware of the Bios. Boot disk only work with software. The difference between software and firmware is one is in RAM (random access memory) the other in ROM (Read only memory)The firmware is burned into the board the software is installed into a hard-drive. Hence the boot disk. Could you explain a bit more as to the problem on the Computer....if it is going the problem will not be on the board it will be in the software unless the Computer is not going at all. Please verify this????
