Kodak digital camera M1073 IS

I just bought a kodak digital camera M1073 IS yesturday and it doesn't turn on

I have the same problem with this camera.  But it doesn't even charge.  I took it back to swap it for another and guess what the same problems.  It's like the usb connection is faulty because the charging light sometimes comes on...the goes off and when I take the lead out and put it back in it flashes rapidly...but no matter how long I leave it it never charges the camera.  The first one I managed to get as far as turning it on but when I touched the ok button or pretty much any other button it just turns off sometimes without even retracting the lens.

After 2 days of trying to charge it both with usb & laptop and with the provided plug charger I managed to take 2 shots.  The controls and menu selection are not what I would call intuitive or user-friendly.

It's plasticky and looks like it would break as soon as you look at it and to be honest having tried two now I'm taking it back to the shop for a refund or exchange for a non kodak camera.

    A complete waste of money...

I had a Canon Digital Ixus 500 that lasted me 5 years for great above ground shots and diving...this one doesn't look like it would last 5 months.

    My suggestion - avoid.

First make sure that the camera has fresh or fully charged batteries installed. If a battery swap or charge doesn't cure the problem, remove the batteries and clean the battery contacts inside the camera with a soft cloth (a heavy buildup on the contacts may require cleaning with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that the cleaning leaves in the camera, and then reinstall the batteries. This clears most power-on problems, but if yours persists, check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:

I have a kodak easy share M1073 and cannot figure out how to reset the date. I can turn the date stamp on and off but that's the only option I have.

It's important to set the date and time so that pictures and videos are organized by the date taken. The date and time procedure varies slightly between camera models, but generally:
  1. Turn on the camera.
  2. Press the Menu button.
If you see a Setup tab, press the Right arrow button to highlight the Setup tab. If you don't see a Setup tab, press the Down arrow button to select Setup, then press the OK button.
  3. Press the Down arrow button to choose Date and Time (or similar), then press the OK button.
  4. Press the Right/Left arrow buttons to move between year, month, and date. Press (or press and hold) the Up/Down arrow buttons to scroll through the year, month, and date.
Use the same procedure to set the time.
  5. When finished, press the OK button.
NOTE: If your KODAK Camera has a touchscreen, the same principles apply. Tap the Menu icon, Setup, then Date and Time (or similar).

Turns on then off. I have bought a new battery. Still didn't work. Charged it for hours. Still nothing. Only 4 months old.

Make sure that you are installing a fresh/ full charge battery
Here are the steps:
1. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into your camera.
2. Clean the battery contacts.
a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth.
b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera
3. Without the memory card, turn on your camera.
4. Pls test with an alt. batt.
If you do not have access to a dif. battery.
Pls. take the batt out of the camera. Insert the charger into the unit from the main socket and turn the camera on. If the camera works you will need to replace the batt. If not you will need to order a No power repair w.4 months and no cust damage it is covered under the warranty.

Kodak m1073 dont open

The problem you describe is frequently the result of dirty/corroded battery contacts in the camera. Try removing the batteries and cleaning the inside contacts with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or fine sandpaper. Remove any residue left from the cleaning, then replace the batteries. Hopefully all will be well.

If the cleaning doesn't work you might want to check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:

M1073 not turning on

Your fix could be as simple as cleaning the camera's battery contacts, or it could be something more serious and expensive. First try removing the batteries and cleaning the camera contacts with a small metal brush, steel wool, or fine sandpaper. If that doesn't fix the problem, check the Kodak Help Center by clicking on the link below. It uses a simple Q&A format to diagnose problems and propose solutions.

I have a Kodak M1073 IS digital camera, it's somewhat new and all of a sudden, when i try turning it on, it'll turn on for a second, flash a yellown/green to red light and then turn off. I dont know what...

This problem is frequently due to either weak/worn out batteries or corroded battery terminals inside the camera. If charging/replacing the batteries does not clear the problem, remove the batteries and wipe the terminals with a soft cloth (heavy corrosion may require a fine wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue left in the camera by the cleaning. Clean the terminals on the batteries in the same manner, and then replace them in the camera. This cures most problems, but if it doesn't work for you, check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:

Kodak m1073 is digital camera is not staying on.

I suggest you take your camera to a professional because hitting it on the table may just do more internal damage, your camera isn't plastic.
