Many different reasons for this to happen. Make sure your temp files are empty. Try changing the channel the router is using. Possibly something in the immediate area is conflicting with router.

CONTINUAL DISCONNECTION OF WIRELESS CONNECTION
There are a few things that can cause you to lose wireless connection with your wireless router. 1. Weak signal strength, check the signal strength on your wireless card. If it is weak move the wireless router away from brick or concrete walls, mirrors, fish tanks and if possible locate the wireless router higher up. 2. Have you secured your wireless router from people near your from unauthorized access? i.e. change the default password, setup encryption use WPA2 or WPA, change the default SSID, and turn off SSID broadcast, and for added protection, enable MAC address filtering which allows only the MAC address/es of your wireless card/s to connect to your wireless router. 3. You could be getting interference from electrical sources such as air conditioners, arc welders, washing machines etc. If so, the power supply to the wireless routers and computers etc should be connected to a surge protection power board, better still connect your computer equipment to an UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply). 4. Check the channels of the wireless routers and access points in your area and change the broadcast channel on your wireless router to an unused channel or one that is currently used but has the weakest signal strength. This will minimize interference with your wireless router from other wireless routers and access points in your area.

My new laptop doesn't work

To connectyour computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh networklist, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connectto your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Keybefore allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This NetworkKey is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used toconfigure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way tosetup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrasethat was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router.http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_addressFor information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in thelaptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

My emachines laptop, keeps freezing, wont connect to wireless keeps asking for an ip address, and now the mousepad has stopped working, can you help me please.

It seems it Got freezing because its searching for a Wireless network and unable to find that, If possible can you try to switch Off wireless (Button on upper side) and check if its working fine.

For Wireless, You need to check the settings of your wireless router that it should be working fine. All settings should be OK.

Keep losing the wireless signal on my laptop.Checked the Router everything is fine, the laptop has a built in reader.stops working even if it is next to the Router, and sometimes goes altogther.

1. Disable or remove Norton Security (usually the problem with intermittent wireless).
If that doesn't work:
2. Disable any wireless TV transmitters you have in your house. 3. Turn off all PCs, then restart the router. Wait until all the lights have stopped blinking, then start up the PC(s).

Got my brothers old comp, reloaded windows now wireless wont work

Did you install a retail version of Windows? You should have used the restore disc that came with the laptop when you purchased it. That will solve driver related problems if your wireless card is okay.
Check Device Manager if wireless card is still there.
If you install a retail version of Windows, check the support website. Check the wireless card's manufacturer and contact that manufacturer so they can give you the driver for the wireless card.
If you install a retail version of Windows, installing the driver from the support website might not work.
If you used the recovery disc that came with the computer, it should work.

There are lots of possibilities here. The first thing is IF you are connected through a wireless network, Disconnect from the network. If you are networked directly into the Comcast modem, disconnect from the cable modem. If you disconnect from the network entirely and things seem to return to normal, then it is possible that you have a cable modem problem, a wireless router problem or someone has hacked into your network. The latter is most likely if you are running a wireless router and it is unsecured as this allows others to use your wireless network without your permission. If you disconnect from the network and things seem to improve only slightly, try running a virus scan while disconnected from the network and see what pops up. If anything has been downloaded to your computer a virus scan should find it. I would also recommend going in and making sure file sharing is turned off. If things seem okay after a virus scan, then try hooking back up to the network. If everything seems okay at that point, then most likely the cable modem or router are okay. If you still have a problem after reconnecting to the network try resetting the cable modem and the router. If you continue to have problems, I would call Comcast at that point and have them help you troubleshoot the cable modem to see if there is a problem with the modem.

Problem with Toshiba wireless conection

Hi,

If you have your router set-up with security enabled, you should try to re-set the router and then go back onto the routers "control panel" and re-setup the security. You can find out the correct way to reset the router and the correct address to enter into the browser to access the routers control panel by going to the router makers website and checking under Support
