Make sure your fingers aren't on the screen. That makes the cursor jump. Even holding the device with your fingers too close to the screen will cause that too.

What would cause temperature gauge bouncing ?

Sounds like the sending unit has an intermittent short to ground. Unhook the the wire from the sending unit, and see if the needle stops jumping around. If it quits jumping around, replace the sending unit. If it still jumps around, you have a bare spot somewhere on the wire and it is hitting ground which will cause the needle to jump. Cut out the bad part of the wire and splice in a new section. That should fix it.

Typing and the cursor bounces all over the place DRIVING me MAD!!! I want to disable the touchpad

Scott,

Go into the Control Panel and choose the Mouse option. Look for a setting called "Tap to Click" or something with a similar name. Disable it. This will make it so that when you click the mouse, you actually have to use the buttons, not just tapping once on the touchpad. Also, check your "Touch Check" or similarly named settings. Turn the touch check settings all of the way up - to avoid having the cursor move if you accidentally brush the touchpad with your palm while typing.

If changing those settings does not help with the cursor bouncing, you can try to uninstall and reinstall the device driver. You can re-download the driver for installation here: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/notebooks/NP-R580-JSB1US

If changing the Control Panel Mouse settings, and reinstalling the driver do not help, then I would try to plug in a USB keyboard to the laptop and see if the cursor jumping also occurs while you are using an external keyboard. If it is resolved when you use an external keyboard, then you will probably need to replace the touchpad on your laptop. If the cursor is still jumping while you type using an external keyboard, then you may need to replace the physical laptop.

My advice if you have to get parts replaced is to take the laptop to a certified technician to do the work.

Hope this helps ya!

When I am typing the cursor or jumps to another line that I've already typed then I have to stop and go back to where I was typing I can't adjust the touch pad because there isn't an adjustment under the...

Try taking a dryer sheet (like Bounce) and wiping the touch pad with it.
Typically, when the cursor jumps like that, the cause is static electricity. It may be coming from your clothing, your desk or your floor. The dryer sheet eliminates static electricity.

Some techs wear anti-static wrist bands to avoid a problem like yours.
Good luck!

When I am typing he cursor jumps around

It is a fault with Lenovo laptops. My cursor jumps all the time, no matter what software I am using. It is NOT the 'sensitivity' of the touchpad, for my cursor jumps even when I am not typing, even if I don't touch the laptop! I can set the cursor to a certain point on a document and then, after about 30 seconds, it will just jump to another point, even if I am in another room.

Cursor bounces around, doesn't release when highlighting

Does your laptop have a touch pointer within the keypad? This can cause the problem you're experiencing. Did you try turning the track stick off in the touchpad settings?

Cursor jumps around

Does the cursor jump around when your hands are nowhere near the touchpad? The touchpads are heat and pressure sensitive. I personally have very warm (and sometimes sweaty) hands. I have this problem often when working on laptops. If I hover my hands over the pad, it causes the mouse to move. I've had to take a business card, put tape on one side of it, and use it as a flip-cover for the touchpad on most of my laptops. If the cursor moves around when you're nowhere near the laptop, then you may want to try disabling the pointing stick (if it has one). I've had several clients with laptops where the pointing stick mouse control go crazy and move and click on things.

Cursor bouncing

I have had some similar issues, I find I must wait till my mapping program is fully open and running before I plug in my GPS unit, and the problem doesn't resurface.
