Red and Green colour bleed on Sony LCD TV

My LCD TV picture has red and green colour bleed when the picture shows shadows. often this appears in hair colour or shadow from peoples faces which have a red / green appearance or edge. I have tried with HD TV and the problem still exists. The TV was supposed to be the top of the range during spring 2008. I have noticed this on some other LCD TV's but the majority are ok. Is this right? Can it be corrected? Please help? The colour is driving me crazy and I have been on to Sony to get resolved. What can I expect?

I am using a Samsung LN40A650 as a computer monitor via DVI - HDMI connection.

Red text and green text on white 'smears' a bit.

Blue text on white does not. It's intolerable.

The problem is definitely not magnetic interference. There are no speakers near the television and it is not a CRT screen.

Replace the video board, if you can find one. Letting it cool down will not help any.

SOURCE: shadows on screen

Try moving a medium powered magnet (not one for picking up heavy objects and not a refrigerator holding one) over the distorted area. If that doesn't work, try a more powerful one. This worked for my Toshiba LCD. Good luck!

SOURCE: Proscan 26LB30Q Vs PS2 = HELP

The red white and yellow cables are composite connections. The red/green/blue connections are component connections.

The playstation's composite connections consist of two audio connections- red & white, and a composite yellow video connection. The TV's white connection is the audio, and the red/green/blue are component video. You need an adapter that will connect the one yellow(composite video) to the three red/green/blue (component video) connections

If the screen works for a short while and then completely fails once the TV warms up you have a problem with the main unit video board or the LCD control logic board. Most often if the picture cuts out but audio continues to work the logic board is over heating and should be replaced. However if the picture cuts out and audio shuts off as well then its your video input board.

Green tint to picture.

Are you using the componant connection on your tv? If so, check the red, blue and green cable connections on both ends. They carry your
picture info to the tv. The audio is carried by a red and white cable. There should be 5 cables for a componant connection. 2 reds, 1 white, 1 blue and 1 green. I hope I have guessed your problem correctly and this helps you.

When using component cables(red, green, blue )

The series of the cable should go green red blue into the back. if you put the green in the red and the red into the green it give the TV a red base to go off of for the picture so everything is red. The reason the green cable won't is because it transmits a black and white picture which allows it a nice base to add the green and red to.

I have a sony 60 in rear proj. lcd that has no red in the picture other than faint red vertical lines all the way across about an inch apart. any ideas ?

It sounds like you do not have the red component cable firmly inserted. I had this problem on my first HD TV, when the green component cable popped out when I moved the TV back in place, and the picture was desaturated of any green, causing my wife to remark, "That sure doesn't look like HD..." I reinserted the green component cable, and the picture was excellent. Check those component cables.

The red, blue and green are ONLY the Video outputs, and connect colour to colour, now, there are Two other connections, again coulor to coulor, usually red & white, that hook up to the Stereo INPUT. So you need BOTH sets to work IE: The Video & Audio. Video: Blue, Red, Green. Audio: Red & White.

The panel might be broken, but you should check the LVDS cable inside the TV:

Check settings first to make sure no one changed anything out of the ordinary. Are the shadows that of a color or darkened shadow? It could be out of convergence, which can be corrected in the menu - or it could be low quality video cables to. Also, if there is no green, does a white color show up when you're in a menu mode (Red+Blue+Green = White Image)? If so, then the green picture tube is working and it's just a color adjustment, otherwise you may have to invest in a new green picture tube.

Too much green color

Problem solved. I tried playing DVD and the TV picture was fine. So I double-checked cable wires from cable box - one of the wires was loose (obviously it was the red color input). After tightening, the TV picture is good as new.

Just respect the colors. Green output from the dvd to green input tv, Red output from the dvd to red input tv and the same with blue. All 3 cables (green , red, blue) are for the picture, so you got to plug another 2 for the sound.
