I was using windows XP and had their drivers installed (as HP won't create any new ones). I had the scanner working and I came up with the same message. Here's what worked for me:

You will need to reboot the computer while having the printer on. After I did this, the connection was remade and I was able to scan again.

If it worked before try pulling all the plugs in the back and waiting at least one minute then replugging!
Have you installed any new software lately?

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Wand Scanner - panscn08 buttons do nothing

Yes follow the first steps to set up the scanner (charge it, properly insert the memory card, etc.) Then you are ready to scan
Once you press the SCAN button and the Green LED stays lit its time to roll the scanner down your document to be scanned. When finished press the Scan button again to STOP the scan. If successful your Document count in the display will move from 000 to 001. That is the only indication that you now have a successful scan.
Next Press and hold the SCAN button until the display goes blank.
Now you can remove the memory card (by pushing in and it will release). Place this memory card into a memory card reader on your computer to transfer and view your scanned documents. Rinse and repeat.
BTW, I found a quick start guide for this Pandigital Handheld Wand Scanner Model PANSCN08 at:

Good Luck!
