I have a Motherboard 915glvg which has power supply chip problem according to the service centre and can't be replaced, only option is to replace with a new board but since it is obselete and unavailable, could someone advice as to what would be an ideal board to look for maybe a gigabyte or an Asus which will be compatible with my Intel pentium D processor 630 3.0Ghz 2mb, its a pinless processor, I've been using DDR 1 ram on my 915 but I dont mind switching to DDR2 if need be, so please advice and would expect a prompt reply

Hi Amol,
This kind of problem usually occurs when the power relay in your TV is damaged. This may happen due to heating up of the system, soft solder, chip problem or other minor problems in the board housing all the chips of your power equipement. Your technician is right and you have to take the set to your Service Centre and get the power board checked. In my case, it was a cracked board which affected the chip due to over heating. You can get your issue checked with the technician. Hope that helps.

Arun

It is possible that you have a CA Voltage problem... so, do you have overvoltage protection at power supply?. though you should remove jumper from "boot block" pins (or similar) in the Motherboard (HP computers usually have it). This surely willl help you.

Dear Sir,

By analysing your problem it seems to be problem with mother board only.
Before that

2.check with another SMPS
3.Remove the processor and reinstall the processor
if these tips not helps deffinately a problem with motherboard.Visit nearer motherboard chip level repair service centre.

Won't power on. standby 5v warning led is on.

Hi,

You could have a probelm with the connection where the power supply connects to the motherboard or you may have a bad power supply. If you have a power supply tester, try testing the power supply first. If it pass, you may need to replace your board.

Good Luck

No Signal

No signal on screen means that there is no input for your monitor from the PC.

1. There might be problem in your PC or in the cable connected to PC from monitor.
2. Your PC might damage that it could not send signal to the monitor.
2.1 In your Motherboard might be faulty in the VGA chips.
2.2 In your Motherboard's SMPS mean power supply.

I think you can got my point. If you are tech person it will help you, otherwise you should take a tour to any service centre.

Thanks & Goodluck
Iqbal

Testing a power supply

Most commonly it is the power supply. Rarely it is the motherboard when it just stops working with no other signs. You can take a power supply from another computer and test but I bet it is definitely the power supply. You can purchase a power supply tester for around $20 or so but you can get a power supply for not much more than that and test it that way.
