Re: lg l1920 lcd monitor's screen flashes when turned on
Could be an inverter problem, if it powers on for a brief second and then flashes off then the inverter is at fault. Check for any Capacitors which have a yellowish substance at the top, they looks like round blue or black cans and if they look like they are buldging then they will need replacing.

Hi erin mckinle,
That is probably it's, uh, analog power saving mode. When the screen goes black and the power button flashes, make some mouse gestures or hit some keys that would not affect anything (try spacebar). That should bring up the screen. If you think it goes into power saving mode too fast, go to Control Panel --> Power Options, and change the values. Hope this helps.
check leads and make sure computer hasn't turned it off because of power saving settings, or your graphics card hasn't failed then try it on another system and if still a black screen call LG as they exchange units pretty efficiently.
You could have a faulty inverter board or faulty CCFL lamp which can cause the screen to flash. Check out LCD Parts for service, parts and DIY info - click on this link to their WEB site. :- www.lcdparts.net
I would try connecting it to another computer or Laptop if you can to see if the problem is the same. You might also try disconnecting it from you computer and turning it on, it should “banner”(show a logo and or a no signal message). If it behaves the same way just a quick flash…. Sounds like its toast.
Is this monitor and LCD flat Panel? If so this is due to a bad power supply, an inverter board going bad or LCD backlight bulb blown. When the backlight goes bad it gets just enough power to start up, but when it is on for a long period of time it goes black because the bulb is not stable enough to hold the charge because it is going bad. These bulbs can be changed, but they also can be costly!
I have a similar problem with my screen, same one, 15". For a period of two years it would turn black for an instant and resume functioning. Since two weeks it only flashes the picture for an instant and then turns black again. We opened it up to check the wiring but nothing wrong there. We are 99.99% sure that the problem is in the screen itself and has nothing to do with drivers or anything else in the computer. If you bought it less than 3 years ago and since it is probably a result of faulty construction, it should fall under warranty (by european law). I am going to take mine to a repairman tomorrow, i will inform you wether the screen can be repaired or not.
