Question about CorningWare SC60 Slow Cooker

Corningware Crock Pot SC 3544

I bought used w/o instructions - It has "off", "low", "high" and "auto" settings. I'd like to know what happens when I set it on "auto"...does it turn itself down or off or what??? I'd appreciate a copy of manual, or even just an answer to my question. Thanks, Sally

What is the auto setting for?

The auto setting keeps the food at a certain temperature, turning the heat on and off. Low and High are fixed heat settings that don't shut off.

Go to this site http://www.crock-pot.com/CustomerService.aspx?id=rpt and put in your model number (located on the bottom of the unit) and you can order the liner and other parts for your crock pot.

On the dial there is off, low, high and auto. What does the auto do? If I select auto is there a timer on it that shuts the pot down after a time? Is fo what is the time.

There is no timer -- with the dial set to auto, a thermostat opens and closes turning the heating element(s) on and off to keep the pot at a fairly constant temperature. The high setting can continually boil the contents, and can burn the food if not stirred. The low setting is for keeping contents warm.

I'd use "auto", if the pot is not going to be monitored.

HOW TO USE AUTO SETTING

It looks rather like my slow cooker which has a 3 position switch with LOW, HIGH and AUTO.
AUTO uses a thermostat control to prevent the contents from boiling. Useful if being left unwatched. HIGH setting can cause burning if contents not stirred, and LOW setting is only of use to keep things warm. Hope that helped.

I have Ronson slow cooker with no manual, it has settings 1,2 qnd auto. Which is high and low, and what does auto setting do>

I also have a Ronson slow cooker.

Instructions from the book read as follows:
- On setting 1 (low), the slow cooker can operate all day and night if required.
- When set to 2 (high), it is very much like a covered pot on the stove. Foods will cook in half the time required for 1 (low).
- When set to auto, the slow cooker will cook on 2 (high) until the food reaches a pre-set temperature, then switches to 1 (low) and maintains a constant slow cooking temperature. Auto is the ideal setting for someone leaving the house for the whole day as most food will cook for 8-9 hours and be ready to serve when they return.

I always use the auto setting, unless I don't have as much time, and will then use setting 2.

On the crock pot it has low, high and auto What does auto mean?

Hi, well, Auto means that it uses an internal, weight & temperature sensor to determine the Cooking time of whatever is in it. It will then "Cook" until "It" thinks it is "Done" and turn off at the end.
I believe that they are NOT that accurate? But a possible time saver nevertheless.

No manual for my old Crock Watcher by Proctor Silex

The auto setting cooks on high for the first hour, then adjusts the setting to low for the remaining cooking time.
Auto Shift allows the slow cooker to heat up to high and then internally shift down to low, so it gives more flexibility in cooking time. Example: A certain recipe may take 4 hours on high, 5-6 hours on Auto Shift and 7-8 hours on Low.

Need a replacement knob for Corning Crockpot Model NO SC-3544

Go to the Hard ware store and buy a knob from a universal variable light fixture, there are many to chose from.
- $2 in the cabinet hardware section of Home Depot. Now have a stylish silver & white handle on my crock pot lid. The bolt and grommet were re-used, several little tiny o-rings were added as spacers, along with a drop of Loc-tite.
