THIS MAYBE THE PROBLEM, IRQ AND DMA CONFLICKS, I KNOW IT SOUND OUT THERE, BUT SOMETHING ELSE IN THE COMPUTER WANTS THAT SAME IRQ AND DMA CHANNEL IN THE COMPUTER, THE DMA MAYBE A MEMORY ADDRESS AND YOU CANNOT CHANGE THAT BECAUSE IT IS SETUP TO THE THAT HAS A HIGHER COMPONET ADDRESSING, WHICH EVERY PEACE OF EQUIPMENT THAT WORKS IN SEQUANCE, LIKE CPU, MEMORY, IO, KB, PORTS, VIDEO,
ADRESS THAN ARE SUPPOSE TO HAVE UNLIMIT AMOUNT OF IRQ AND DMA, THIS MAYBE HARDWARE COMPATIBILITY PROBLEM THAN A SOFTWARE ISSUE.

ASUS P5S800-VM -AGP slot.I'm trying to install a Sparkle GeForce FX5200 AGP 256 DDR and upon window XP reboot the card shows up but Windows fails to boot therefore limiting the chance to load the drivers....

Try installing the drivers before you add the card!! Also make sure that your settings in the BIOS are correct for the card that you have (or set to 'auto' if not sure).

Hope this helps

for agp motherboards, you have to install agp mobo drivers, before you install the actual video card drivers.

AMD Motherboard with, on board video card has voltage short no video available on monitor. I would like to disable and add a AGP card.

When the Computer is off install the AGP card and put it together next start the computer when it starts up hit Del key before it boots up go into bios go to devices and disable onboard video, then hit F10 say yes to save changes and reboot it will then detect the card and will ask for drivers for the card. Be sure you read the directions for the video card You may have to install the drivers first, since you did not mention the card brand names and what mother board you have. Asus has many mother boards.

ATI x1650 Pro Stops!?

For this card they recomment at leat a power supply rating of 450 watts. If you have lower than this then I would suggest upgrading the power supply. A 550 watt psu is reasonably priced and should give you plenty of power for future use. Hope this helps.

Video card makes system unstable

Hi Wayne, it's rule of thumb to always uninstall the old software from add/remove programs before installing the newer software drivers. The reason for this uninstall is so the two programs do not over-write files with the same name.
The ASUS P4S800-MX motherboard does have an onboard graphics card, (SiS Real256E). If you added another video card into the AGP slot & did not disable the onboard graphics, than you're AGP card will not run correctly. (I'm suprised it even loaded)!
Please read page 2-19 in you're motherboard manual to help fine tune the bios when using an AGP video card. Than go to page 2-21 & than set, Primary VGA bios to; [AGP,VGA Card]. Save & exit. The PC will restart.
Press & hold the power on button on the case. This will power off the system. Unplug the power cord from the power supply. Insert you're AGP card & make sure it is fully seated. Close the case & plug in the power cord. Boot up the system. Uninstall any other software you did install for the AGP card. Retsart the PC after uninstall is complete. Install the latest software you downloaded for the AGP card. Restart after install is complete.
Lastly, run windows update service & choose ustom, not express. Check for hardware & software updates. You're system should function much better & when you check the system properties you will find you have more system memory. This is because the onboard video used you're system memory to run.

Good luck Wayne!

Mike
