Connecting a VCR machine to a Lap Top Computer.

I have what looks like a "S" connector jack on the side of my lap top computer. Is it possible to hook a VCR player into my lap top and watch movies? If not do you have another hookup method? Thanks for looking at my question.

NO,both the S video on the laptop and the S video on the vcr are
S video out.

You can get a RCA (with audio and video) to USB cord that will work.

Here below are possible causes and troubleshooting steps of laptop that can't power on, hope it may help:
Possible causes:

1. AC adapter failure.
2. Power jack failure.
3. Motherboard failure.

Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solutions:
1. Test the AC adapter with a digital multimeter. It's possible that you have a failed AC adapter. If you don't have a multimeter, test your laptop with another known good AC adapter.

2.It's possible that power jack (socket where you plug the AC adapter) is broken. Remove the motherboard and take a closer look at the power jack. In some cases you can fix the jack by resoldering it on the motherboard. In other cases you have to replace the jack with a new one. Using a multimeter, test if the power goes to the motherboard through the jack.

3. If replacing the AC power adapter and jack on the motherboard doesn't help, most likely you have a bad motherboard. Replace the motherboard.

When plugged in the unit starts to smell hot like an electical burn,

Turn it on turn it over and see if the fan is operating. If not power your lap top off and replace the fan. You may have to not use this computer until the fan is replaced it is advisable not to. The smell you have may be dust smell when it gets hot. Clean throughly and make sure that all the dust is out of your computer. Also recommended a lap fan also which goes underneath the laptop to assist with cooling.
Lap tops are very touchy and need to be kept cool at all times otherwise you will be purchasing a new lap top if you do not take care of the cleaning or the cooling or the fan not working or spinning slowly. Check all this out. Critical if you do not understand what I mean take your computer to a local shop for immediate care. I hope this assisted you. John

When I push the power button to power the lap top up the light display that says outlet power changes from green to amber and the laptop will not power up.

try removing the battery and just use plug power only if it boots normally then change the battery and the change the power supply unit as well I would just start with the power supply unit first then see if the battery charges up if not the battery is bad replace it. Now if the computer will not start with the battery removed then you have a power supply issue.
Change and replace it. Hope this helps. Also when computer lap top get hot they will shut down to protect the computer wait and let it cool down then try to restart your computer. If this does work and the lap top restarts normally get a fan cooler that is USB powered and the lap top sits on top of it. Also make sure the fan is running and is not stopped. Clean and dust it out once in awhile. I hope this assists you with your problem. John

How do I Connect a Dell Latitude E6500 to a Sanyo Television

Check your ports on the lap top see if you have s video or hdmi or dvi or VGA the best is hdmi if you have that get a cable for either one of you connections also match connections from the lap top to what you have for your TV more than likely if they are both fairly new you should have hdmi connections for both get a cable that is long enough. I get my cables at amazon.com their prices are the bomb.
Connect them together both ends to lap top and to tv then make sure that you have a line in jack stereo jack with RCA ends hook that to the back of your tv and your lap top in stereo jack even better to your surround sound system. Set your TV to AVI 1 or 2 or DVI or whichever is your connection start a movie on the lap top and turn your sound on and see if you have a picture on your screen you should have the same thing as what is showing on your monitor on your lap top. Adjust settings and have fun!

Thin Red Line on Left Side of HP Pavilion DV2000 Lap Top Screen

Majority of time it's the lcd that has a problem which creates the red line, otherwise it's the GPU (video processor).

Try hooking up your computer to an external monitor. If you see the line on the external chances are it's the lcd.

This method of testing isn't fool proof but either way the problem is hardware related.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

An Error in ibm T61p lAP TOP

Here is a link to the maintenance manual.

Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} You will need to identify which usb port is bad by connecting a device to each port and seeing which one isn’t working. This is a physical problem with the connection between the motherboard and the USB port. (The system reads an open circuit) What is most likely happening on your laptop is one of the four 'prongs' for the usb port is pushed back (into the center on the laptop) and unhooked the connection to the motherboard. I have a feeling that because several people seem to be having this problem that there might be a manufacture defect with the particular USB port.
The way to fix it: (*note: whenever you work on the inside of a computer wear insulating gloves and remove the battery from the computer before hand.*)
Depending on your laptop there should be an access panel to the core compartments. Open the access panel and check if the usb pin’s are not seated correctly.. (Please note* the very small metal piece should be soldered very well onto the motherboard, the problem will probably be that it was pushed out of the USB connection side and it should still be rigidly connected to the mother board still.) Carefully place the small metal connector back into it's slot so that it looks like the other three. You should really solder this back into place. If you don’t know how take it to a repair shop to make sure it gets done correctly.
