Disconnect the Camera from the USB port and reinstall the CD or Downloaded software program. When the program asks you to connect the camera to the USB port, do so and it should work. Then to use it on the Web, do this.
Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.
A. Skype Setup:

  1. Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if Installed Properly will come up and show a video picture.
  4. Then, on the bottom of the page click on Save.

  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.

    1. Windows Live Messenger:

  2. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”.
  3. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on “ “Action.”
  4. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting” and follow the instructions.
NOTE: Your audio and video should work. Enjoy.
When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.

The message "power surge on

What is happening here is when the camera is plugged in it is drawing more current then the port can handle. This is likely the cause of a short in the camera and is not something that is easily fixed on your own. If you still have the receipt for the camera from where you bought it take the camera back and exchange it for a new one. Otherwise you can try plugging it into different ports on your computer but the same message is likely to still occur.

I have the cam plugged into my computer and the green light wont turn on so my cam doesnt work

Hi! i would like to help you with this.

First clue helped me understand that the green light wont turn on, which clearly says that there is no power supply for the webcam.

second thing i would like you to try is.
*please check for loose connectivity issue.
*please check of the port in the computer( where you plug in the cable) or the connector pin is damaged, broken or loose.
*then please check of the driver is installed in the DEVICE MANAGER.

How to get into DEVICE MANGER:
*please click START> RUN.. type in "devmgmt.msc" and click OK.
*then the device manger will open. there you can see drivers for keyboards and all hardware components. please look out for "imaging devices". if you expand it.... you will find the webcam driver.

** if there is any exclamation, question or X mark on it. please let me know. there might be some problem in the driver installation.
** also please let me know the operating system and please check if you installed the webcam software.

please let me know if you need more help. Thank you:)

Webcam installation

When you installed the camera did you use generic Windows drivers? If so, try going to the logitech website and downloading the latest drivers for the web-cam. Unplug the camera before installing the new drivers, it may prompt you to plug in your camera, if not plug it in once the installation is complete. Restart your computer and make sure your plugged in as well if it is a laptop. Another reason for no response could be no power is coming through the USB port, either because the power connection is burnt out (this doesn't mean that powered USB devices don't work in the port) or it reverted to a 1.1 version of USB. This is a common glitch that can usually be fixed by changing USB ports or restarting the computer. Make sure you don't have too many devices being powered only through the USB port. If any USB product also comes with an adapter always use that adapter if possible instead of using the USB to power it. This will ensure a longer life of your ports. If the latest drivers are installed and you know you have a working USB port that provides power then you more than likely have a bum camera. (Electronics generally fail either very early or very late in their life cycle)

Yes, it is possible to connect multiple webcams to a single computer and have the computer detect and receive feed from all of them.

just not sure if it is possible to simultaneously receive feed from all of them.

All you need to buy is a USB hub, there are 4 ports and 8 ports USB hubs.

Can't make webcam work on Acer Travelmate 4500

This sounds like a USB issue. Not all USB ports on laptops are created equal (they should be but they are not) some usb ports supply enough voltage and current to run usb items properly and some dont. It is always better to run direct from the computer / laptops ports .

If you cant do this then use a HUB but make sure the HUB HAS IT"S OWN POWER SUPPLY !

Also make sure you always use the same port and swapping them around does not always work for all hardware.

Webcam Plus... can't get it to work with IM

Hi, 1. Verify your internet connection. If it is possible change your DNS IP Address. 2. Try Updating your yahoo messenger >> http://messenger.yahoo.com/download.php THE PROPER WAY ON INSTALLING USB DEVICES A. Enable usb ports on the BIOS. 1. Do not plug in your device right away. Install all drivers and software first! 2. Reboot 3. Plug the power or turn on your USB Device 4. Plug in the USB Port. 5. Windows Will detect the Device Automatically. Finish! Hope this helps

You should be able to roll back the driver to the previous version, if it's corrupt, but make sure you set up the camera in YM to see if that cures it first.
