My netbook shut down without warning

My netbook shut down quickly without warning after i turn it on (it lasts between 30 seconds and 2 minute, randomly). It happens even when I get into bios setting. transfer files, turned off wireless connection...

Before this problem happened, I download Windows live Messenger, I clicked windows live family safety, and it led to installation which I wasn't intended to. after installed live family safety, I was so annoyed by the pop up warnings every 10 seconds at down right corner of my screen, since it gave no choice to stop it and you can remove it, I thought it was a virus. so I searched google and found a software to remove it, this software seemed did not solved problem, so I uninstalled it and restarted my net book. then the problem happened.

my Acer aspire one netbook using window xp, and it had no problem since I brought it 5 months ago. I tried both AC power and battery power, the problem still occurs.

Is there anyway to fix this problem?

Hi ashish13 and rtrahan, thank you both for your reply and help.
After a good sleep with the problem carried in my mind. I recalled that I did drop a bit water into keyboard yesterday. so I set my Acer netbook under a househood heater fan, facing the keyboard to the fan, in less than five minutes, the problem disappeared.

it aint cuz of any softwares cuz then system would work in Bios without any hitches... seems there is some hardware incompatibilities happenin... try restoring all bios features to default... will have to do so quickly before the restart though.....

Well its not on long enough to overheat so it can't be a hardware..just for giggles can you load that software back, the one you uninstalled and see if the Acer does not shut down..we'll start there...

GO INTO THE THE PROGRAM AND DELETE ALL PROGRAM THAT ARE BOUNDLED IN THE PACKAGE AND REMOVE THEM UNTIL YOU RESOLVE THE ISSUES. IT MAY BE TAKING MORE POWER OR JUICE TO RUN THE ONE PROGRAM FOR YOUR CPU TO HANDLE ALL THE WORK

DID YOU NOTICE A DROP IN THE SYSTEMS PERFORMANCE AFTER INSTALLING THIS PROGRAM.

Good day everyone, what is the cause of pc that suddenly shuts down without any warning, after a few minutes i turn it on again same thing happen,i noticed two bad caps get puffy and i changed it,but it

This is hard to find out without having the hardware at a hand. For example, even though you dust it off, maybe the memory slots are still dirty, also is always a good idea to clean the memories edge with a pencil eraser. Another thing that could be causing this problem is that maybe your cooler fan is not working at the right speed, making the computer freeze or even shut down without notice. The same thing goes for the processor.
If you know a bit about computer, go into the BIOS and set everything to default, reboot. Good luck.

hi

maybe the time you install os you did not install properly, or you make an online windows update,
you need to check what application you installed last before you encounter that problem, if still appearing the problem got device manager and disable the "automatic shut down on system failure"

thats it

good luck

PC wont last more than 30 secs on. It shuts off and is not transmiting video. I have an nvidia 6200. Pentium 4. Tried new batt on BIOS, it made no difference. I had given up and didnt use it for a year....

Hi Good day!! OK based on your troubleshooting, maybe the problem is on the board, maybe your board is over heating, try to check your cpu temperature at your bios setup. but before that pull out your Hardisk because we were testing only the board.
42degree = normal temperature
60+ degree = not good
90degree = critical state
100degree = boiling point and it will shutdown.

I have reviewed your problem and have the fallowing items for you to check and or try.
Try booting into safe mode and see if the same thing happens.
( F-8 )
Choose safe mode with network configuration installed.
If the unit runs without shutting down, it is a program conflict and not a hardware issue.
Run this safe mode start up, with no external devices connected.
Note... Remove any Flash Cards or USB devices, CD or DVD's .
If the unit runs without shutting down in safe mode, you may want to run a complete restoration of software.
Hope this helps.

Power to the mobo

Without having the specs on the motherboard or knowing how old it is, it's difficult to say if it is beyond repair. Although my experience with computers shutting down that quickly while attempting to boot have been a problem related to processor overheating. Processors get very hot within seconds of powering on. If the processor cooling fan or the thermal paste is not working as intended the system will shut down quickly. You may want to check those two possibilities before purchasing a new motherboard.

Sudden Shutdown

Hi, I am Sanja and will try to help you.
Try to remove battery from your motherboard, and power cable from computer case. Leave it for about minute, and then return battery, power cable and try to turn on the PC.

You should have no trouble in identifying battery, it is pretty much standard, if you have more questions please do post them

Regards, Sanja.
