Question about Akai PT46DL10 46" HDTV-Ready Television
My AKAI Rear Projection front panel indicator indicates that I need to replace the lamp cartridge. The picture appears fine but it says the lamp operation exceeds its rated lifetime.
The manual says it should only be replaced by a qualified technical service and to contact AKAI. The phone number in the book is not a working number but I found another number and I cannot get a response by either phone or e-mail. They answer this new phone number but I am cut off each time before I can reach an operator. Is there someone else besides AKAI that can replace this cartridge for me?
My TV is a Rear Projection Model AKAI PT 46DL10.
Any information you can give me will be greatly appreciated.
The bulb is not the original bulb. you need to purchase a 9 pin RS-232 connector cable and reset the lamp life counter on the bios of the tv if the picture is still fine on the TV. (make sure the cable has a male end and a female end and attach it to your computer and the data port on the back of your tv beside the pc input, there should be a male end on your computer that looks like a monitor input but backwards)
Then I downloaded the service manual from www.nodevice.com (under service manual, click on akai and then scroll to the bottom of the page where the model number of the TV appears; there in the manual they have all the codes to reset your tv, adjust all settings, do a diagnostic of your tv to find problems etc.
The cable only costs 5-10 dollars at most computer stores in your city
Hope this helps

a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
