Canon Faxphone B640: In feeding the original for faxing and copying, the first page comes through with a slight tear slightly to left of center. sometimes I have to hand feed it. With subsequent pages, they start to feed and then often hang up, requiring a "force feed" which sometimes fails. I think that one of the black tabs that covers the white plastic in the assembly that engages the feed roller is broken. There is a long one to the right, but the one to the left is evidently broken.
Can I fix this, or must I send it to Canon?

Sounds like you may have a small obstruction in the scanner feed. This would inhibit making copies and sending faxes. Lift this section up slightly to inspect for small pieces of paper or dust. Blowing it out with compressed air would also be a good idea.
