It stays offline
Right click on the printer icon and then check if an option to "Use printer online is avaialble". If not, refresh print spooler service.
Unplug the USB cable of printer from the computer, turn off printer,
Click Start>Run and in the run window, enter services.msc and hit enter.
This will open the services window. In the right pane of the services window, look for Print Spooler service, right click on it and select Restart. Close the services window and then try to set the status of the printer to online (Right click on the printer icon and then check if an option to "Use printer online"), Try to print from the computer.

a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: printer is offline
If you open your "printer's and faxes" folder you can right click on the printer and select "use printer online". Another thing that you want to do is make sure that the printer is ready and no alarm lights or messages are showing.
I hope you find this information helpful.

Let's try to isolate the problem. First lets check if your windows was able to detect your printer. Go to Control Panel then go to System. In the System Window go to Hardware tab then click on Device Manager button. On the Device Manager Window you will see the list of devices on your system. Look for Universal Bus Controllers and expand it bu clicking the + sign. Check if your printer is listed. If you printer is listed then your Windows was able to detect the printer and the problem is on your printer or printer driver. If this is the case I suggest you update the driver by going to manufacturer website and download the latest SW.

I Open my browser....I signed in to my router as administrator ....
Mine is 192.168.1.1 ....
I went to status in my router ....
Then to local network ....
Then to DHCP Clients Table ....
This is how I found what printer address the was.... Then I typed the printer ip address into my browser

Yours will probably be different....That got me to the 1720dn printer menu ....I clicked on Configuration ....
I clicked on Print Server Settings
I clicked on TCP/IP
I clicked on Set static IP address.
I changed IP address from 192.168.1.105 To 192.168.1.125
and Submit....Now you can get to the printer menu at 192.168.1.125
Go to run....
Printers & Faxes
Right click on Dell laser printer 1720dn
Properties. Ports ....
Add port ....
Double click on Dell Enhanced TCP/IP ....
