Clogged defrost drain on GE side by side

I have a GE side by side GSS25Qfm with water collecting on the bottom of the freezer side. I think it is a clogged defrost drain. where is the drain and how do i check to see if it is clogged. i understand the drip pan is hard to access on this model too. do I attack the problem from the inside of the freezer or the back of the refrig?

Yes you do pull out the bottom back panel of the freezer to access the drain then use hot water or a hairdryer to thaw it

Hi,

You have a clogged drain system in the freezer, as the unit will defrost daily, the water can't leave the freezer properly and the water collects. You need to de-ice the freezer and clean out the drain tube at the bottom of the freezer section under the evaporator. Good Luck

There is water collecting at the bottom of the Freezer. It is coming out of the vent area inside the Freezer near the bottom. Can you help identify?

Check the defrost drain at the bottom rear of the freezer. If the drain is clogged or frozen, the water has to go somewhere during defrost.

Your defrost drain hole is clogged. Turn the fridge off. Defrost the drain hole in the freezer. You will be fine until it does it again.

Freezer coils freezeup fresh food side gets warm

If the freezer is on top then empty out the freezer and remove the bottom and back liner of the freezer compartment usually phillips screws. In the back you will see the freezer coils along with a defrost element. Below these two items u will see a drip tray that collects water from the coils on defrost cycle, in the center of the pan will be a drain hole that connects to a hose that leads to a pan under the refrigerator.Normally the water is collected there and evaporated. The hole in the tray in the freezer is clogged. Thaw it and clean it until you can pour water in it and it goes to the pan down below. please rate me

GE TFX20JR side by side/water leaks out freezer during defrost

Yes, you are correct, that is a drain. Use a turkey baster with hot (not boiling) water to flush out the drain tube until water will flow out into the drain pan under the refrig. (where the air blown over it will cause it to evaporate)
