Question about Samsung 1200W 5.1-Ch. XM-Ready Home Theater System with Upconvert DVD Player
The instructions I am giving are for the Samsung HT-TZ512 - if you have a different model, let me know. The relevant sections in the manual are on pages 28-29 if you want to get a visual, but basically:
1. There are 5 types of iPod that require you to purchase an additional dock for the Samsung docking station that do not come supplied with the home theater system automatically - let me know exactly which type of iPod you have.
2. Once you have the required dock, plug the docking station into the home theater system (in the port marked "iPod"), and put your iPod in the dock with the correct dock adapter for your iPod model.
3. Switch the home theater to the "OSD iPod" mode by pressing the Function button on the home theater system itself (or by pressing the "Port" button on the remote control).
4. In order to see the iPod menu on your television screen, make sure you have a video cable connected to your TV, and make sure the TV is on the right input (which would be the channel that you would normally watch DVD's on through your home theater system).
If you give me the EXACT model number of your home theater system, iPod, and television, I can tell you exactly how to hook it up.
Here is the manual for the Samsung HT-TZ512:

Ipod's utilize headphone jack style connectors which can be purchased just about anywhere electronics are sold, however most dvd players utilize RCA jacks so you must purchase an adapter from ipod jack to RCA jack it runs usually about $10-25.00 also you can purchase a FM transmitter kit for about the same price but sound quality is not as good so my suggestion is go for rca converter and hook it up to audio input in back of dvd player or stereo for best quality.
