Question about XFX NVIDIA GeForce FX5200 Graphic Card

Ancient Graphics Card

Hi, i want to upgrade my geforce fx5200 graphics card to a radeon hd 3850 agp (i only have agp and pci slots). ive read several places that this card would be severly bottlenecked by a single core proccesor (i have a P4 3.2ghtz). so my question is- is it worth spending the 120$ for this card? that may be running the same as a cheaper/lower end card

No, it would be a waste of money unless you upgrade your processor first

So which video card do i need? i have 845gl motherboard . before installing this video card (rage XL 8mb pci) my pc plays videos and most 3d game very (even gta sanandreas) efficiently but now it is not...

Hi,

The ATI Rage XL 8MB PCI video card is a very old and low power video card.

PCI graphics cards are not as fast as AGP graphics cards so if your motherboard has an AGP slot (it's the slot closest to the CPU and is usually coloured brown) then that would give you better performance.

These days AGP has been superceded by PCI-Express but since your motherboard does not have a PCI-Express slot then the best graphics card for it would be something like this one:

http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/5416296/Sapphire-ATI-Radeon-HD-3850-512MB-DDR3-AGP-8X-Graphics-Card/Product.html

Hope this helps, please rate my answer :)

I have dell gx 260 with 2.4 ghz nd 1gb ddr ram with nvidia geforce fx 5200 can u name any graphics card which will be gud enough than geforce 5200...nd agp plz..

You need an AGP 8X graphics card for one.

AMD ATI Radeon series:

1) Better: XFX Radeon HD4650

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4914257&CatId=2234

A) 1GB (OR 1024MB) of DDR2 graphics ram memory
B) 128-bit bandwidth memory interface
C) 320 Stream Processors
D) 600MHz Core Clock
E) 800MHz Memory Clock
F) 55nm process technology

3) Best: HIS HD4670

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6076197&CatId=2234

A) 1GB (Or 1024MB) of DDR3 graphics ram memory
B) 128-bit bandwidth memory interface
C) 320 Stream Processors
D) 750MHz Core Clock
E) 1600MHz Memory Clock

Likes POWER! Better install a 500 Watt power supply, to keep up with the power needed for this baby!
The GX260 supposedly has a 250 Watt PSU. (Power Supply Unit)
Back in the day this PSU was made, the PSU manufacturer 'fudged' the maximum rated wattage.
Actual is more like 60 percent of what is stated.
175 watts!

The above is just IMHO about graphics card choice.

(I have motherboard's with a PCI Express x16 slot, using the PCI-E 2.0 technology.
I use Nvidia graphics cards)

Installing an mic geforce fx5200 128mb pci-e card on my emachines t3408, and it seems that the pci slots on my computer are reversed from the pins on the card. please help!

It seems to me that your computer has an AGP slot which is a much older type of interface. AGP is much older and they no longer use them.

From the model you posted, you have 1 AGP video card slot and 2 PCI expansion slots. there are some but very few companies that do make cards for PCI that will be much better than an emachine onboard video.

But your computer will not support PIC-E

Ati radeon 9550 agp with pinnacle pctv hd problem please help

Try to put it on another pci slot. if you are using the one right under the agp, then that is your culprit.  the agp and the top pci slot share video resources.  just put it on another pci slot, if you have to swap another non-video related card to the one just beneath the agp slot.  Hope this helps.

Graphics Card

It looks like, from Acer's website, that the sa90 has a PCIe-x16 graphics card.

To be sure, let's get this program:

Scroll to the bottom for the download link. On the first tab, you'll see Bus interface. That's the type of card you have and the type you should buy to replace yours.

Comparable cards to the ATI All In Wonder 9700 Pro 128 MB

Hello there. The Radeon 9700 Pro was a high end graphics card in its time. Today the latest Radeon cards are 3870X2, 3870 and 3850 models. The 3850, while mid-high end range, would be a substantial upgrade from the Radeon 9700 Pro.

If you are planning to upgrade your system, make sure you choose the correct type of card (AGP/PCI-E) and that your current system has a good enough power supply to power a new upgrade.

Hope this helps.
