THE LIGHT OF THE SCANNER WENT OFF

I CANT COPY

Posted by on

  • thenicewon Apr 13, 2009

I am not able to scan or copy on my HP PSC 1510. Whenever I try to scan or copy all I get is a black screen or paper that is covered in black ink. The outlet that it is plugged into is fine. The motor is working and there is light when I press the copy or scan buttons, but it does not work. Any suggestions? Or should I think about getting a new printer?

First let's check the obvious. Is the plug in and secure? Have you tried plugging a lamp in the outlet to make sure it is active and not dead(you'd be surprised!). When you do try to turn on the scanner, is there any motor activity, sound or light from the scanning glass? Does the cord have a power converter on it with a light that will tell you if it's on or is it a plug that goes straight to the unit?
Let me know if any of these worked- or not and we'll continue.

  • Scanner failure. Unable to scan, copy, or send a fax
  • Scanner failure, cycle power
Additionally, the scanner bulb might not turn on during scanning.ry the following solutions in the order presented to resolve the issue. When one of the solutions resolves the issue, there is no need to continue troubleshooting.Solution one: Check the scanner lightFollow these steps to check the scanner light by making a color copy of any document.
  1. Load plain white, unused, letter size paper in the paper tray.
  2. Lift the scanner lid, place the original face down on the scanner glass, and then lower the scanner lid.
  3. Make a color copy.
  4. When the product starts to scan the document to copy, slightly lift the scanner lid to see if the scanner light turns on. Scanner problem error 5, cant copy or send faxes

You need to replace either the scanner or the little scanner interface board. Both could be expensive. Or you can try and have the scanner board repaired, it's normally capacitors that needs to be replaced.

Why my scanner cant use??

if you can copy immediately, the cause of the problem is situated with your scanner driver on your computer. try to download the complete driver from the HP web site and reinstall. can you keep us posted if this has changed anything?
