Black marks clothes

black marks on cloths usually occurs on older dryer when the felt liner that supports the drum, wears out or is torn, leaving a gap for cloths to get pulled into and between the drum-and drum support.
The replacement part (is not felt anylonger) but made of teflon and has self-sticking backing that goes on the front support after removing the old felt and glue. While you at it, order a new belt, that is most likely been slipping when the closes get jamed between the drum and support. Look up your model number on They aslo have tutorials so you can see how to install these items

Brown streaks and stains on white towels

check the drum on both ends to see if the felt wore down or ripped, when this happens your clothes can get into the space and causes the marks on your clothes, also check to see if anything is on the drum, door or back wall, anywhere that the clothes can touch as they spin in the dryer but most likely there's a worn out felt on the drum and clothes are slipping though the space

Felt seal on back part of drum whirlpool

Felt seal and glue

What I would do is take the dryer apart and remove the old drum seal. Get as much of the old glue off there and install new felt. I tuned upa dryer built like yours not long ago and took some photos.

Leather strip came off dryer. Now seeing shiny fibers on clothes. I'm wondering what the fibers are and if they are dangerous. Dryer is a kenmore from the 80s or90s

The fibers are felt and theirself are not dangerous...however they were secured to that leather strap that came off and that leather strap and the felt fibers comprise the rear drum seal and now their is a gap in the drum because that felt seal has come off...with that felt seal off their is a great possibility of clothing falling through the gap and damaging the components of the dryer (and ruining your clothing) is highly reccomended that the felt seal is replaced on the dryer drum.

Leaves brown marks on clothes marks will wash out but when dried they are back on the clothes otherwise dryer works great

you have to replace the felt piece in the back where the drum rides on,the clothes are going through the gap where the felt has worn out and could be rubbing on the rollers or whatever the clothes are touching as they spin,if there's a felt piece on the front change that out too.

Brownish streaking on clothes even after cleaning the gasket.

The dryer has felt strips on the front that the drum rubs on. When the felt wears out there is room for clothes to get between the drum and the felt which puts the burnt looking streak on them. Remove the front panel to access the front of drum and the felt guides.

Maytag dryer is leaving black marks or rings on clothes

If your clothes get marked or torn in your dryer, check these: Rollers Rear seal Front glides Front seal Rollers Your dryer may use rollers, or wheels, to support the rear of the clothes drum. When these are worn out, they may cause the clothes drum to drop down slightly, which can pinch the clothes between the top of the clothes drum and the rear of the dryer interior. When the rollers wear out, you need to replace the whole set. Rear seal Your dryer may have a felt-like seal at the rear of the drum. If this seal is worn, torn, or missing, clothes can get caught and torn in the space between the clothes drum and the rear of the dryer interior. When the rear seal wears out, you need to replace it. Front glides Your dryer probably uses nylon or plastic glides at the front of the clothes drum for support. When these are worn out, they may cause the clothes drum to drop down slightly, which can pinch the clothes between the top of the clothes drum and the front of the dryer interior. When the glides wear out, you need to replace them as a set. Front seal Many dryers have a felt-like seal at the front of the drum. If this seal is worn, torn, or missing, the clothes in the dryer may get caught and torn in the space between the clothes drum and the front of the dryer interior. When the seal wears out, you need to replace it.

Dryer drum is scraping something and black deposits are turning up on our clothes

Well there are two parts to the drum, there is the bearing in the back and the felt pads in the front which the drum rides on. There is also a belt, but if something is scraping it would not be that. Is sounds as though the cover on the felts has worn off and your getting felt material on your clothes, so those need to be replaced. You need to get the proper felts for your dryer than you need to look for any screws on your dryer casing that will allow you to remove the casing and get to the drum, as the pads are underneath the drum. (Note: Inside the door there may be screws on the underside of the upper deck, and the deck should tilt backward on hinges)

Dryer is leaving brown marks on clothes. it is either a burn mark or they are getting caught between dryer drum and shell, not the door

I had the same problem. Unfortunately, it is caused by a rusting drum edges, if you can believe it. My dryer was only 6 years old when this problem occured. There are felt gaskets on the front and back of the drums where it contacts and rotates on the frame of the dryer. You can take a white cloth and run it around the rim of the front and back of the drum and I suspect you will end up with some discoloration on the cloth. I had these felt gaskets replaced, but that is only a temp solution. When the drum is taken out and the old felt gaskets are removed, you can clean the edges of the drum and get a lot of rust/brown off the drum. New gaskets are only a temp fix. I did it about 1 1/2 yr ago, and I think the problem is starting again. Probably time for a new dryer or time to pull the drum and clean it. New drum probably cost prohibitive if you can get one. What a bunch of **** for a 7 1/2 old dryer. Next dryer will have a stainless steel drum. Hope this explanation helps you with your problem.
