In the manual it will give you a procedure to recall the error codes stored in the memory. Get a pencil in hand and be prepared to write them down. If will help if a friend writes them down. I think you have to press a few buttons together to get the error codes.

Call Rinnai. I have replaced about 15 control boards that have an issue rating with the capacitor microfahred rating. There is no recall, but if you at least let them run your EXACT MODEL AND SERIAL number you may be pleasantly suprised that they send someone out to replace the board.

If you have a dual port digital manometer and are handy, you may be able to install a new board. You MUST reset the high and low fire rate with the new board. Hope this helps

Rinnai 556 WT gas space heater flashing PF

most modern gas heaters use a code system to tell the operator what the problem is. look for a pattern in the flashing, and then compare that pattern to the literature on the inside of the heaters panel. When you have a diagnosis code, you can follow the appropriate course of action.

My tank says I have 32 gallons left but the heater won't work (rinnai 556f). It turns on for about 15 seconds and the light on the power button turns red and starts blinking. What does this mean?

If you hold down the economy button and the up and down arrow buttons for 5 seconds the unit will start an error code display. Get a helper and yell out the numbers when they start blinking. Post the error codes and we can help you

Ductless heater shutting down

There is a small wiring harness that goes from the main board down to the sparker board at the very bottom of the heater. Disconnect this harness and reconnect making sure all pins and contacts make good connection. If it continues, replace the wire harness. Also make sure the outlet that the heater is plugged into is a grounded outlet. Stray voltage can interrupt the thinking of this unit.

If all connections are good and the unit is grounded, you are probably looking at replacing the sparker board. I do have these parts and would be more than happy to send them to you for a donation.

Rinnai EnergySaver 556F Heater flashes

I'm picking up a faint propane scent when the heater is completely turned off. When I turn the heater on it lights fine so I don't suspect it's the pilot light. Is this an issue with the installation of the fuel line, or could it still be the pilot? Any ideas on troubleshooting the source?
