Please check your connection to the Internet from your PS3. Many times, when a lot users are playing the same online games, they will be turned away, lose connectivity, or not be able to log in. Again the main reason for this is there is A lot OF ONLINE TRAFFIC to that same site. Many times, a paying member may receive a dedicated connection to the online game site so that they do not experience getting booted off the network. Last, ensure to check your internet connection at home by removing power from the router, and restarting both your pc systems as well as your PS3. Once you do this, you will reset the system in order to REQUEST A NEW IP ADDRESS for your internet service provider. I can bet my last dollar that your going to experience a much better game play time. Come back to me for more free advice if your still have an issue.
It's a known problem for Playstation users.but the answer is to disable universal plug-n-play on the router. Disabling universal plug-n-play on the router is performed through the console interface. Open a browser window and enter the router's IP address into the navigation bar. For most routers, the default IP address is 192.168.1.1 Enter the username and password used to access the router. Press "OK" and the console application will be shown in the browser window. Click the "Password" tab. The UPnP settings are located in the same window as the router's password settings. Select "Disable" from the box labeled "UPnP" and click the "Save" button. Close the router's console window. Start the Playstation machine and connect to the Internet .
How are you hooked up to your Internet ? is it Via a WiFi Router ? if so, ensure that the router is compatible with the Playstation 3. Also, have you tried calling your internet service provider ? they are usually able to solve connection problems with regards to game consoles etc.

First you need to find a Windows wired or wireless device already connected to the network in order to find out the required settings
Windows XP 1. Click start --> (sometimes settings) --> Control Panel --> Network Connections 2. Double click on the active connection which will say connected underneath 3. Click Support 4. Click Details 5. Now the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, Primary DNS and Alternate DNS which are displayed should be noted.
Windows Vista 1. Click Start --> Control Panel --> Network and Sharing Center 2. Click on "View Status" to the right of your connection 4. Click Details 5. Now the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, Primary DNS and Alternate DNS which are displayed should be noted.
Set these values under "manual settings" in the PS3 but add 1 to the last number for the IP Address as this has to be unique on your network
