Will not power up

http://www.hitachigst.com/support/index-files/simpledrive-pininfarina-faqs The SimpleDrive and (re)Drive lines require a 12Volts, 1.5Amp or greater, and Center Positive power adapter. So if it's not on warrenty still I would go to radio shack, or somewhere that sells a/c adapters, Take your old one or the drive to match the right size plug. It should work, you maybe able to have them test your adapter to see if its' some other problem, but I've had a/c adapters that show they are making power that won't work the device. Inspect your a/c adapter make sure it's not something simple, like being unplugged, or a cut wire. Hope this helps.

When I plug my my Hitachi SDM/205 250GB Simple Drive into the usb port a pop-up window appears and says that it needs to be reformatted. Have I lost my data?

Yes, but there are many recovery software that you can download from the internet.... so don't worry, try 4shared.com by searching Recover My Files which is very effective. Please note to format your HDD using Quick Format rather than Full Format.. Good luck..

I have 500GB SimpleDrive USB 2.0 External Hard Drive, but currently i am facing some problems with it. When i plug it in to my computer, the computer says that unknown device. and it also does not come to...

I would unplug the external drive then shut down your computer. Plug the drive in(be sure the USB port is in good working order.)Turn the computer on. If it does not recognize the drive search online for tech support for that particular drive. Install any drivers or software. Be sure to find out if the drive is compatible with your operating software. Make sure all connectors are seating firmly and correctly. Make sure that everything is plugged in where it should be plugged in.

My simpledrive has disappeared and I can't get it to re-mount

have you tried plugging your HD into another computer to see if it has the same problem with another computer?
if the 2nd computer is able to detect your HD, I suggest a backup of your files and format your HD immediately. Your primary computer should be able to detect it then.
A piece of advice: try removing or unplugging your HD once in awhile. External HD is somewhat different from internal HD. :)
