Not getting full pic on certain channels

We just had cable put in and now we do not get the full pic on certain channels, we are getting static lines on the top and part of the pic on top is blacked out.... We called time warner they came out and claim it is not their signal.... we never had this problem before we had the cable put it in.

I've seen this problem before. Try to adjust the horizontal settings in the tv. you should be able to adjust the picture up just a bit and it will get rid of the lines. also if you are hooked up thru component or hdmi you should be able to press the # button on your time warner remote to fill the screen. Hope this helps.

Rogers cable is using what they call "switch digital" this allows more channels to be placed on the platform they are using to give you more stations. This basically means people on the same line that you are, are not watching this station so they put that station "off" until someone tunes into it.

I think the picture mode set by you or some one put in JUST SCAN MODE, go and check it back and should let it as 16:9. Else, you should play DVD and see if the line happen or not. If it still hapens, return it and exchange another one.

I get a thin line of distortion on my sony xbr 42in

Your format is wrong. Make sure that your tv is in full mode and your direct tv is in 1080i stretch mode. This should correct the problem. Also, WB is having problems. This is common on their channel. If it is happening on any other channel, try the above. Hope this helps. JOHN

Some channels have no color or sound

once a signal falls below a certain threshold the color will be lost.
some sets are more sensitive to this loss.
if you see static in the picture on any of the channels then the cable is leaking and needs replaced /tightened.
if a local air broadcast is leaking into a same cable channel on the cable you will get poor to no reception on that channel.
for example : he we have a local channel 7 on the air.
if i tune to cable 7 and see a weak or distorted pic then the cable is leaking and needs replaced.
