Re: Uniden 5.8GHz and model DSS7915 have a problem
What that means is after you plug in the base set the #1 handset into the base charger for a few seconds, then put #2 handset into the base charger that registers it to that base at your house. continue on through the rest of them if you have more than 2 , They only need to be in the base for about ten seconds, then it should or might say registered on the screen,,Good Luck

place the handset into the main base for 30 seconds or so. This should reset the handset to recognize the base. If it is both handsets that are doing this, plug a hard-wired phone into that cord and jack to verify there is dial tone.
Press the END button to exit or erase the message. Press Menu/Select. Scroll uo or down to find Register Base. Select the option, select it and put the handset in the charging cradle of the base. A confirmation beep will sound.
The DXI4286-2 is an Analog phone, it does not allow for both handset to be used at the same time. You can transfer a call from one handset to another, but cannot talk on both at the same time.
The following is from the user's manual for your phone:
Unavailable message is displayed on the LCD screen of the handset. • Make sure the other handset is not already in use. Both handsets cannot be in talk mode at the same time. • Place the handset in the main base for at least 5 seconds to re-register to the main base. • Make sure the handset is not too far from the main base when trying to use.
You might want to try one of the DECT or a Digital 2.4 or 5.8 GHz phones, they allow you to use multiple handsets at the same time.
