Us too, and we have cleaned the fridge twice, use baking soda and all that. Our odor is like pickle juice or rotted produce, RB215BSSW/XAA

We have the same problem; we bought it new 3 months ago (Dec 2008) - now we have a rotten food (dead fish?) smell in the refrigerator side (RS277 side-by-side. I called Samsung and this model does not have a 'deodorizer' that can be replaced. We completely taken all food and compartments out 2 times to no avail. Frustrating...

We noticed a white foam strip (similar to protective shipping/packing material) on the left side under the shelf that is over the middle/cooler section. It seems to have retained the smell. I called Samsung and got 'approval' to remove it so as not to void our warranty. They said ok (he didn't really know what it was) and made a note on our record accordingly. This may be the problem!

What is the smell? Spoiled/spilled food?

Or is it a different odor?

Does odor come from inside of the refrigerator, or outside?

Cleaning refrigerator interiors is best done with baking soda and water. Not bleach.

I had a similar problem with an unbearable smell, not inside, but outside the refregeration compartment. it was from the defrosted liquid that gets stored in a small open tank at the bottom on the rear side of the fridge. over time , particles settle along with water and gives a rooten smell, cleaning this tank solved it.

Hope this helps,

Smells when vacuuming, have cleaned filters and really smells bad

one thing you can do is go out to basically any grocery store, and theyll have a special powder that you sprinkle all around the carpet before you vacuum it, and while you vacuum you notice a difference right away, the scent gets circulated thru the fabric in the carpet in order to keep it smelling nice til the next time you vacuum. thats what i do and im never goin back because it makes the house smell so dang good. go for it partnet itll cost you like $5 for a month supply

There is a bad smell coming from the back of the fridge. The inside smells fine, the freezer does not smell either. It looks like there is some kind of tray inside the back of the fridge. Its is filled...

If you are referring to the drip pan that on the bottom of the fridge, that could be the source of your odor problem. Take the pan out and check to see what is in it. Normally there should only be just water that comes from the defrost cycle.

Annoying undetectible odor from HVAC vents.

The thing I am thinking that is causing the "smell" I would have the drain to the evaporator coil cleaned out. Using the wet/vac remove the debris in the drain. This drain has a p-trap built into it and if it clogs up the back up water gets an algae growth in it and I think this is what your smelling. Some persons are really sensitive to this. Once you have sucked out the drainage go to the drain pain in your furnance( This is where the evaporater coil sits in) take a capfull of regular household bleach and pour it ito the drain (this will inhibit growth of algae in the area for a while) This may cure your problem It has worked for me on several different occasions as the one your describing

Good Luck Hope this helped

Freezer not blowing air - bad smell in fridge

Your automatic defroster coil is open and needs to be replaced along with the fan in the freezer that blows the cold air around and also blows air into refrigerator.

Bad smell down below is food rotting in that section because it is not cold enough.

If the fan is frozen this would be cause because something in the defrost system is bad. Or you could have a open motor. Make sure the door gasket is sealing.

Hello coutts

1.What is the model and age of your fridge?
2.Did you ever spill some exotic type foods or curry or so forth?
3.Describe what it smells like?
4.Did you empty the fridge and wash it out?

I have know people who have emptied there fridge and washed it out with a solution they mixed of 10%bleach and 90 % water to extract a Foul odor.
In the hospitals they use 30% bleach and 7% water solution.
BUT I would be afraid for the walls of the fridge being plastic or vinyl.
I do not know how bad the smell is for your fridge, but I recommend to my customers to keep an open box or two of baking soda in their fridge and this absorbs odors pretty well. Change them once a month.
They are dirt cheap at Sam's club or fifty cents a small box in the supermarket.
Waiting your response to my first questions!!

I hope that I solved your problem with one or all my suggestions

I have a homeking fridge freezer and there is a really bad smell coming from the fridge which is not because of food. i have emptied the fridge and thoroughly cleaned the fridge but the smell is still...

Hi, i have the same problem with my Homeking fridge. Because it is a frost free firdge, there is a little resevoir at the back, with a small little tube leading from the base of the fridge into it. There are 2 screws holding it in place. Unscrew these but keep the resevoir firmly in place as the nasty parmesan-type smell is actually stagnant water and you really really dont want to spill it. Empty it and then what i did was bleach and anitbacterialise the resevoir tray and the little tube thing. Though I had the problem solved but now it is doing it again less than 2 months after this, so I'm going to contact the people who sold it to me. This is how you get rid of the smell though!!
Good luck
