This happened to me, everytime I washed clothes it lite up F51 and wouldn't go through the cycle to drain. I had to manually put the machine on drain and spin to get the water out.
After three times of having the repair man come I called Whirlpool and said I had a lemon and it couldn't be fixed and the machine was replaced. They are allowed to try three times to repair the machine for the same problem, like it lighting up F51 and then they have to replace the machine as a lemon while the machine is still under warranty.
I hope this was of help. The delivery man said that the machines are bounced around so much during transit that it's no wonder they have problems.

Motor RPS Failure--F then 51 flashes when there is a motor rotor position sensor(RPS) senses rotation after stop command.F-51 ERROR CODE IS DEALING WITH THE SPIN CYCLE. THE CONTROL DOES NOT DETECT IT SPINNING.THE RPS SENSOR ON THE BOTTOM OF THE UNIT NEEDS TO BE TAKEN OFF AND PUT BACK ON ABOUT 10 TIMES. SOUNDS WEIRD BUT USUALLY FIXES IT.But if that does not help then it needs to be replaced. You can get required parts from www.repairclinic.com Thanks. Keep updated for any more query.
