Does the whole laptop shut down or just the screen? Can you get the screen back or once it is off is it off until you reset the laptop?

What OS are you using, if Windows, what version?

Bad motherboard. Bad sound is fairly common and it'll hang the system when sound is accessed.

I read your description carefully, there is no dought in my mind that the motherboard is the issue, acer is well known for problems in that area and unfortuneately there is nothing more you can do, generally I find they get to hot, cooling fans fail, and numerous other situations.

Please get your laptop charger checked, it might be giving more output than it is supposed to. Get it checked as soon as possible to prevent any damage to the laptop itself.

Lcd turns off when i connect power supply to my laptop

First it sounds like where the ac adapter connects through at has possibly burnt out some locations on the motherboard, if I were you I would keep this part of the system turned off as much as possible until you get it looked at by a technician, a technician will need to to take that apart and specifically test these areas on the board find any and all shorts, replace where necessary on circuit parts.

Sounds like a bad AC adapter not charging the system. If a known good adapter has the same issue (Or this adapter works on another system) then it is a motherboard replacement

In a case like this when the lcd is broken the only way to fix it is to get it replaced. Best thing to do is to go on Ebay or thru google and do a search for your laptop model number and lcd and figure out the best price.

Blue Screen of Death, but not quite

hard drive is a main failure concern, check to ensure power supply is plugged in. sounds like you have a corrupted rgistry file-locate OS for that unit and hit ''repair'', should solve the problem.

Toshiba tecra8100

If it's a tecra 8100 model, the power on password can be removed. You can either make your own parallel port adapter that will short out the password (I've done that), or you can buy one (like on ebay) and that'll get your bios password removed.
