Hi i have got the packard bell easynote M5255 with ex running,the problum i have got is as follows ,when i boot it up i get all the sounds that i should on boot ,but when i try to play sounds ( music or video i get a message no sound card found.the only reason i got it is so i can use my sony camcorder because vista does not like it so to save money i got the packard bell easynote M5255 but until i get sound i cant edit them .but i can download a movie from the camcorder and burn to dvd and it has got sound .so if you can give any info please do .if i have got to get a sound card can you give info on how to fit it please as i have no paper work for it i went into the device manger / sound , video and game controls / in it i have got audio codecs / bluetooth AV/HS audio / legacy audio drivers / legacy video capture devices / media control devices / realtek ac97 audio and vedio codecs.when i double click the realtek ac97 audio its properties window opens and in the general window it says the the devices is working propely then at the bottom it says the device usage use this device (enabled).then if i go to the driver window driver provider -- realtek.. driver date 24/04/2003..driver version 18.104.22.16890 the computer has got win xp running ok so when i go to the control panel and click the speaker icon when the window opens its says No Audio device the device volume is all greyed out so i cant try to do anything at all .and when i go into the audio everything is greyed out also.. I hope that i have got all the info in the right place this time

You can try and uninstall the sound driver then restart the computer windows should detect it and reinstall the driver(you might want to download the driver and save it just in case windows can't find the driver).

if however you wish to remove the problem entirely--go control panel-- go programs -highlight yunyun line-- click uninstall and then when finished go to the icon on the desk top and follow the first instruction
I would suggest you try safe mode.
Safe mode is a troubleshooting option for Windows that starts your computer in a limited state. Only the basic files and drivers necessary to run Windows are started. The words "Safe Mode" appear in the corners of the display to identify which Windows mode you are using. If an existing problem does not reappear when you start in safe mode, you can eliminate the default settings and basic device drivers as possible causes.
If you don't know the cause of the problem, you can use the process of elimination to help you find the problem. Try starting all of the programs you commonly use, including the programs in your Startup folder, one by one, to see if a program might be the cause of the problem.
Follow the steps to boot the computer in safe mode with networking:
1. Restart your computer if it is powered on.
2. Tap the F8 key after your computer initially powers on.
3. Once you see the Advanced Boot Options menu you can stop tapping.
4. Use the up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.
5. Select Safe Mode with Networking and press Enter.

Burning dvd\'s is always a crapshoot when you have multiple machines. Computer drives are more tolerant on playback - the problem lies with your other, independent playback units. That is why in your main viewing area it is important that you have a few units so that if disk does not play in one machine, it will play on another. Has to do with the individual differences and calibrations of the machines involved. Store bought dvd\'s have less problems because their laser reflectivity is always higher than disks you burn, and therefore, easier to read properly. Price of the unit has no reflection on ability to properly read the disk. Sometimes and often, a cheaper machine will work better with copies - you never know.
Generally, connecting phones via bluetooth to a laptop just allows for file transfer between the two devices. It is not to input sound from the phone through the speakers of the laptop. You would need a bluetooth audio device for that such as bluetooth speakers or headphones
try checking windows control panal too see if you have drivers installed. if o.k. try sound icon to see if you have ticked mute box. here's the one that got me,the dvd playing program had the mute box ticked. re-launch dvd played/media played and un-tick. good luck
