Hello,

I would first make sure your system meets the minimum requirements in order to play the game properly. You can find the requirements at the link below.

If you do meet the requirements, then next I would recommend you install updated drivers for your graphics card.

Age of sail 2 failz on vista runs on weaker XP computer

If you are running Vista, before you consider downgrading to XP, find your privateer.exe file and right click it. Once the page is displayed, left click on compatibility. Then check the Run this program in compatability with... Click the button below and scroll until you find XP. Click it and then click Apply to save it. Then click ok. That should enable you to run the game on Vista. If it doesn't something is wrong with your operating system, not the computer.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Echo Problem

I've had a similar problem where all the sounds in the game became echoed like if I was in a cave, even though I was in the middle of a city.

It's quite some time since I got it fixed, but I think what did it was to reinstall the game, cause then you get back all the default files and everything, and all the game settings should be default.

If you have any mods installed, you should back them up, or at least write down the names of them and re-download them so you don't lose them.

You can identify the hardware in your computer using the Directx Diagnostic tool:
  • Click on the Start button and choose Run
  • Type "dxdiag" without the quotes then press ok
If you receive a message related to checking for whql signatures, choose Yes.
On the first tab, system, you can find the following information pertinent to game requirements:
  • Operating System
  • Processor
  • Memory
On the display tab (Under 'Device' on the left):
  • Name - The name given to the card by the manufacturer, this will usually, but not always contain information on the chip type it uses
  • Manufacturer - The company who manufactured the card

hope this works for you, update drivers and see if you can run this on your own PC

Age of Sail Privaterr's Bounty will not play

You need to run it under windows 98 compatibility mode:

To do this locate the file "privateer.exe". By default, this file is located in Program Files/Global Star/Privateers Bounty - Age of Sail 2.

- Right click on the privateer.exe and select Properties.
- Click the Compatibility tab.
- Check the Compatibility Mode box by clicking in it.
- Use the drop down menu to select Windows 98/ME.
- Click Apply, and then click OK to close the window.

Hope this helps.

Graham.

Computer games hestitate frequently.

This is due to using outdated hardware. Its not necessarily any one thing. Sure, more RAM and a new video card (even an upgraded processor if possible with your main board) will help. But if your computer is 5 years old, you need a new one for gaming purposes.

I've seen your problem countless times, and if you don't have an upgradeable computer, or its a name brand pc, you will need a newer one.

The reason it seems to get worse, is that #1, your hardware just gets older as time goes on, and #2, games become more sophisticated, resource intensive, and have higher system requirements.

Your computer can no doubt handle a lot of things without issue, but games, anything video intensive, or that require a high % of RAM, processor usage, or video usage are going to give you problems.

Play

All you have to do is go into properties by right clicking on the shortcut icon. Find "compatability." The problem lies in the fact that most contemporary computers are too advanced for the older game, so you have to slow the processing speed down. When you find "compatability," change it to "Windows 2000." 98 is too slow, and XP is too fast. If 2000 doesn't work, try a different operating system. The game should load now.
