Printer skips every other line when it prints

Makes print look like it went through a vanition blind. System usually prints ok for the first page then it does the above from then on until shut down for the period. I have cleaned the heads multiple times and replaced the print cartridge several times.

    I have a vista HP laptop that will not let me reinstall from the disc or download from the internet. The error light continues to flash. Any other recommendations? I am still in the same predicament.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

A couple of ideas you may want to explore/consider:

  • if you are using parallel (LPT1), check the connectors (both ends) or replace the cable;
  • if you are using USB, you may need to re-install the drivers;
  • if using IrDA, you may need to re-check settings/configurations.
  • hardware wise, the motor/gear mechanism may need a looking over. Of particular interest would be for an worn, uneven, missing tooth in any of the gear including the tooth belt if used.
Pls post back any updates. Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

    Please also Try---
    Look on the bottom of the cartridges - they have the nozzles. Its easy if there's something stuck on them. You should also clean the holding pen for the cartridges and the bottom of the cradles the cartridges sit in. Use a Q-Tip and alcohol. You should also check the contacts between the cartridge and printer to make sure they are clean.
    Thanks

My Epson WF-3640 is printing with gaps in the text. How do I fix this issue?

Make sure you should remove shipping tape from the ink cartridge. These taps are used to protect printer during shipping but you have to remove it before starting printing. Beacuse these taps prevent the ink to entering in print head. If you will not found shipping tape in your printer then there is terr off strip, remove it. The tear off strip seals the the vent holes on the top of the cartridge to prevent it from drying out on the shelf or during shipping.
After ensuring that the shipping tape has been removed, run the printer's "Head Cleaning" utility to prime the cartridge, then print a test page.

Why is print quality poor after inserting new ink. Copies are faint and have lines

the cartridge is clogged with ink that has dried and reduced the slit. you need to replace the cartridge with a new one. it happens usually if you recharge the cartridge 3 or 4 times with compatible ink.

Prinnter not printing but showing 'put custom in manual tray'

There is still a print job in the queue. Place a sheet so it prints or kill the job.

Open Printers and Faxes. Open printer. Highlight jobs and Right click > Cancel, or Documents > Cancel.
For those stubborn jobs, Right click My Computer > Manage. Choose Services and Applications > Services > Print Spooler. Right click and stop. Then start. This may have to be done from the Print Server if it's network printer. Contact IT to kill.

Laser printer makes light clicking noise when idle

When idle is potentially the fuser unit, after heating and cooling. However the print quality issue associated with the clicking sound could indicate an electrical issue. The HVPS maybe faulty causing the print quality issue (due to dependant parts) and the electrical click. In any case I would recommend calling Brother and finding the nearest authorised service agent.
