When I got my newest computer I opted to use the printer that I had with the prior one (to use up the ink!) Now I wish to install the printer that came with the newer computer and don't know what to do! I'm 77 years old and not very computer literate!! Thanks!

No problem. Just insert the CD that came with new printer, install as per directions. You don't have to worry about the old printer being installed, you can have multiple installed @ same time. If you no longer have the instructions ( quick start guide) for your new printer just let me know, I'll walk you through it.

I've seen this before with these printers. They will print a test page ok but nothing from the computer. Reload the driver. In fact go to the HP website and download the newest driver and install it. Hi there For troubleshooting purposes, Perform the following:
1. Open the printer and remove all ink tanks.
2. Insert a single ink tank in the printer then close the cover.
3. Confirm whether the printer recognizes the installed tank properly. If it does, it will indicate it does not detect the other ink tanks, as they are not currently installed in the printer.
4. Repeat steps 1-3 with another ink tank.
5. If the printer at any time indicates two of the same ink tanks are installed, the cause will be the last tank installed. For example, if you inserted an ink tank earlier, and you later inserted another ink tank, and it said two of the same inks were installed, the cause of the issue is the last ink tank.

Uninstall and reinstall the printers.Prior to installation disconnect your printer from your computer. Run the setup for your printer and connect printer and computer only when told to do so. the printer should have software installed enabling you to opt, for a printer-ink cartridge change.
If the cartridge has a chip fitted, it may be discharged.
The chip is supposed to be charged up, for the printer to recognise the newly installed cartridge.
view your settings in control panel/printer/properties to see what options you have available.
You may want to start from the begining. Unplug the printer from the wall and computer for atleast 2 or 3 minutes 5 to 10 wouldn't hurt. Remove the cartridges. Sometimes the computer thinks for the printer when it comes to ink levels. Before rehooking the printer to the computer. Turn the printer on, reinsert the cartridges, then hook the printer to the computer and reboot. The printer will hopefully work for you at this point. If not try the same, but uninstall all software and download the newest from HP.
