Question about Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition

The small scrolling icon on Windows Vista

When I am using Windows Vista on my laptop, when I am moving the mouse arrow on the screen with the finger pad, often a little scroll icon appears on the screen and automatically assumes I wish to scroll the whole screen instead of move the mouse pointer. This is really annoying as I never do wish to do so!

Is there any way to disable this feature, thus making me much calmer!

Thank you very much for your time.

Yes this is fixable. your touchpad has areas to the side and bottom that can often act like scrollbars in place of the middle mouse wheel. All you need do is go to the control panel, under hardware and sound find the mouse options. you should be able to set any and all options for your touchpad, including the areas where scrolling can occur. simply set these to none, or disable that feature.

Screen keeps scrolling

usually screens will scroll like that if you have accidentally pushed down on the middle mouse button - you will see a circle with a double ended arrow in it. Moving the mouse in any direction will make the page scroll up or down indefinitely until you deactivate the scroll or move your mouse to the centre of the screen where page stops scrolling but is still active.

  • Ctrl+Window key+Tab: Brings up Flip-3D, but it will stay on the desktop so you can scroll up, down, left and right.
  • Window key+T: Allows you to tab between application buttons on the task bar.
  • Ctrl+Shift+Esc: Opens Task Manager more faster than alt+ctrl+del.
  • Alt+Tab: Windows Flip. Allows you to choose an open application to switch to by repeatedly pressing the Tab key.
  • Window key+5: opens the snipping tool.

How do I fix the size of my icons and make the internet fit to size

How to resize Vista desktop icons

One of the complaints I hear about the Vista GUI is that "the icons are too big." Well, fixing that is a simple matter. Here's how:

Right click an empty space on the desktop.
Select View.
Click Classic Icons.

Another way is to use the scroll wheel on your mouse or trackball. With the cursor on the desktop, press and hold the CTRL key and scroll the wheel to make icons larger or smaller.

I hope someone having that problem will read this thread.
Cheers!

Desktop icons. i installed win7 transformation pack and now it has large desktop icons..how to turn it into classic icons?

  1. right mouse click on the desktop
  2. select properties
  3. click the settings tab
  4. after slide the resolution to 1024 x 768.
  5. If this is too small, then change it until you are satisfied with the screen resolution.

click advanced. Under general, you'll see DPI settings if they have changed, set them back to 96. If thats not the problem, go to appearance, advanced, then icons. Set the icon size to 32, and the font to 8. If not, increase the resolution by going to settings and moving the slider.

Please don't forget to rate... :-)

How do i reboot my Windows vista hp pavilion elite m9177 v pc

Click on the Windows button on the bottom left of the screen (where the start button used to be). On the bottom right of the menu you should see a circle icon open at the top with a line. next to that is a lock icon and next to that is an arrow that points to the right. hover the mouse over the arrow and a menu will appear. click restart or shutdown.

When browsing page goes very small in top left hand corner

this happen when you shrink the browser page and close it without maximized it.
open the browser page, click and drag the page to the left top corner of the screen (top left corner of the browser page is at the top left corner of the screen).
move the mouse to the right lower corner of the browser (the arrow will change to 4 direction arrow). click, hold and drag the corner to the lower corner of the screen.
close the browser.
the browser page should be full screen when you reopen the page.
