SOURCE: Problem with Control Panel

It sounds like theres a front panel button that has become intermittant and making contact all by itself. Sometimes when you clean the screen, the cleaner will drip down between the crt face aqnd the cabinet and make the switch in front go bad. Im not sure if this is the case in your problem but its a start. If you didnt spill anything or drip anything into the front panel then your maicroprocessor could be causeing the problem, or the 5 volts that feed the micro could be noisy ie, bad filter capacitor in the power supply. Now as im sure your aware of the hi voltage inside these sets? Its best if you dont have the training to get a pro to assist you as this hi voltage can hang around inside the set even if its unplugged. Good Luck

SOURCE: Problem with my Dell E771mm 17 in.CRT monitor

How far from the sides is the image? If it?s just an inch or two you can use the monitor adjustments to expand the image to the edge of the screen where it was previously. If its too far in then the only option is to have it repaired. You didn't mention where you are but in the US even a minor monitor repair that involves at tech opening the monitor is going to cost at least $45, perhaps more. That?s a lot of money for a monitor worth about $100 new so a new or used monitor may be a more cost effective option for you. While i am opening the system i am gtting in monitor control menu is locked ,how i hve to un lock it pls give some tips

Maybe the problem is in your control panel (where the buttons are located) maybe one of the buttons are in normally close state, where in the button is already pressed.first check the buttons use a multimeter to check a good push button reading when not press is 0L in digital multimeter while in analog the reading you get is nothing. and when the buttons is pressed the reading must be 000 it means that the button is good. Try to replace a new push button or buttons. Hope this may help

I have a dell monitor and I keep getting this notice that control menu is blocked. how can I resolve this?

For the E771MM, press and hold the OK button on the monitor for 15+ to toggle off the OSD lock. Holding the button turns on the OSD lock as well. The OK button is the rightmost of the control buttons (excluding the power button). This is a useful feature if a small child will be near the monitor or if the monitor is being used for demonstrations.

The user's manual for the Dell E771MM is here: .

I hope this helps.

When the monitor (dell e771mm) is hooked up and the computer is turned on, the monitor goes right to a solid blue screen, no text, no error messages, i can manually control the monitor menu and it displays...

I do not think it is your monitor. Plug it into another working machine to see what it does. The result will tell you whether it is the monitor or the computer.

Want to unlock my monitor

This is the function that locks the OSD in order to keep the current states of
settings or prevent others from adjusting the current settings.

1. Lock : Hold down the menu button for more than five seconds to activate
the OSD adjustment lock function.

2. Unlock : Hold down the menu button for more than five seconds to
deactivate the OSD adjustment lock function.

Though the OSD adjustment lock function is activated, you can still
adjust the brightness and contrast, and adjust MagicBright ( )
using the Direct button.

Powersave problem

If you are using a desktop computer, chances are that you don't want the computer to go to sleep automatically. This is even more the case if you are running Vista in a virtual machine for testing purposes.
Disabling power management is simple and easy. First go to the start menu and click on the Control Panel.
Click on the System and Maintenance link

Then click on the Power Options link:

It will disable automatic sleep mode, but will still turn off display.\
You can click on change plan to disable.

If you are using XP than.

Open control pannel-> click on power option -> keep turn off monitor setting to never.
