GE Simon XT panel lights window, door and motion indicators

By bestbuild on Feb 10, 2009

I have the Simon XT and each time I arm the window and doors with the panel button and then push the motion button the light on the motion button will go off right after the delay. The motion still seems to work, but doesn't stay on. It will stay on if only the motion button on the panel is pushed.

Keep me from going insane.

Thanks.

- Thank you very much for your help. While I was experimenting with the panel, I used the Key FOB and noticed I could engage the Window/Door along with the Motion Sensors. However, when I tried to do the same with the buttons on the panel it didn't work that way. I live in a home which is quite long with sleeping quarters on one end and the other has the motion sensors. Now, it all falls together and I will just use the FOB or open and close the entry/exit delay door to get what I wanted.
Again.........Thanks much.

How many times in a row are you pushing the button? Do you have the latchkey feature enabled.

Same Problem

-   I have a Simon XT with the exact same problem. I can set doors, window and motions all at the same time with the fob, but if I do it with the panel, the motions deactivates the moment the delay is over. The panel is in an area NOT covered by a motion sensor, so it's not that I'm tripping a motion sensor during the delay period.
Indeed, if I stand next to the panel, and use the keyfob, it works fine. If I use the panel, I get the four beeps like expected, but motion disarms itself.
This happens regardless of whether I press motions first, or doors and windows first.

It sounds like the auto-stay arming function. Try arming it and opening and closing the door.

The system is working as designed. If you arm both doors/windows and motions, but you DON'T exit the premises during the exit delay, the system will "downgrade" its arming to doors/windows only. The assumption is that you haven't actually left the premises and are at risk of creating fale alarms. This behavior can be disabled in System Configuration (though it may require the dealer access code to do it).

Try opening and closing a sensored external door (even if you don't go outside) during the delay after arming doors+motion and see if the motions don't stay active.
