Picture disappears and changes to white screen

The picture on the screen begins to jump. This will contine for about 10-15 minutes then turns to a white screen. I checked all connections. I turned tv off for 15 minutes and turned it back on.

Re: picture disappears and changes to white screen

I am assuming that this is the nature of the fault and that it is repeatable. Does what you have described occurs every time you turn the damn thing on. You haven't said is whether or not there are changes in sound when the screen malfunctions or whether your unit plugs into a GPO or a black box which plugs into the GPO.However this only dictates the ease with which the faulty component is replaced What seems to be happening is that white level controls are setting to maximum gain. If the control is digital It is almost certainly due to dirty power. The sound level should also change if the power supply is the culprit. Spikes cause the gain on the control to ramp up or down erratically (change) on digital parameter controls. This resulting in bleeding for white levels and a change in the sound levels. Replace the power supply if possible. A cheap workaround can be made if my assumptions are correct and the main transformer is not faulty. Leave a post if you want more info

I have a 2005, 42" toshiba LCD model 42DPC85 that when we turn it on everything is good except the whole screen is black but imediatly the colors dot by dot start making the black disappear, it only took...

You need a new DLP chip. The chip has little mirrors that are black on one side and white on the other side. When the chip wears out , your screen will turn white one dot at a time or black one dot at a time or they may just all stick shut at once. Since your screen is black, all your mirrors are closed. You can buy the chip from and they have a video of how to replace the chip so you can do it yourself. It takes about 1 1/2 hours. The chip is about $160. To have this service done for you is about $200. Do it yourself and save the money. Your tv will be just like new again. Just make sure the chip is in perfectly level or when you turn your tv back on, your picture will be slanted. you won't notice it on the picture itself but words on the screen or scrolling messages and the menu will be slanted.

Sounds possibly like image retention. If you watch the same channels often any recurring text, logos, or graphics, especially white colored, can ghost on the screen.(playing the same videogame for a long period can also have the same effect) Watching other programs or channels will cause the ghosting to disappear.

To prevent image retention you need to activate the TVs anti image retention mode(Called ISM Method). On Zenith and LG (the manufacturer of Zenith T
s) plasma TVs open the TVs menu, select the Option section (picture of a briefcase with a wrench). Select ISM Method and change it to Orbiter, this is reccomended if you watch programs or channels (or play videogames) that have still images for long periods of time. It moves the image a little every couple minutes.

If watching others channels or programs doesn't make the image disappear, change the ISM Method to either Color Wash or White Wash (don't use White Wash frequently, it over excites the plasma gas and can shorten the life of your TV if overused) for a few minutes and then return to Orbiter.

TV Picture cuts off.

The blue screen means that you have lost signal. If the set don't have signal for so long it turns itself off. "power saver feature" Check all connections or replace cables, If that don't work the signal board may be going bad.

Sony KDL 46V2500

This set does have a video problem. If it was bought locally, then, the retailer may have a 30 day return policy. If bought online or cannot be returned, then, contact Sony, for a service center in your location: Either way the set is to new to have a problem and you should get it resolved as soon as possible.
