Can I use a metal coil on top of my ceramic glass cooktop stove?

I want to use a metal coil that came with my glass teapot (called The Whistler).
I want to put the coil under the teapot so the teapot doesn't rest directly on top of the stove.
Is there any harm in doing that?

Is it okay to use glass whistler tea kettle on ceramic stove top range

I've seen mixed results across the internet on this one. From personal experience, for some reason, my glass teapot left some sort of stain on my ceramic stovetop. It also took longer to heat. I then went out and bought a simple metal one and have been pretty satisfied. If cosmetics are a concern, it's not too difficult a step to pour the water into your teapot after the fact, right?

Replace defrost timer about a week ago hoping that was the problem, but of course the coils are froze up again. I just ohm'd out the heater and it read apprx. 22 ohms. which to me would indicate...

if it's a glass heater, look at it,if it's black or greenish looking inside the glass even though it reads out it doesn't mean it's good, change out the heater if it looks discolored in the glass part,if it's not glass just a calrod heater it's good and most likely it's the thermostat, also it's a good idea seeing you're already in there to change out the defrost thermostat and you can unplug the machine, find the thermostat located on top of the evap coil,it has two wires going to it,it's a round piece hooked on one of the lines connected to the coil, remember where it is,you have to put the new one in the same place, cut the two wires and bypass the thermostat by connecting the two wires you just cut,all it is is a switch, one wire has ppower going to the t-stat,when it gets cold enough the electricity goes through it and out the other wire so nothing will happen if you do this,if you have an electrical wire nut or tape put it on so it doesn't touch metal, plug it back in,turn the timer to put it into defrost,if the heater comes on then you know the thermostat was bad,you can leave the heater on to help you melt out the ice and melt out all the ice again with a hair dryer, then disconnect the t-stat wires until you get a new t-stat,the fridge will run for 7 to 10 days before the coil freezes up again so replace the part that's bad before this happens.hope this helps.

Hi, my husband bought me your KAMENSTEIN WORLD OF MOTION SERIES ANIMATED HORSE CAROUSEL many years ago. I did not keep the box or manual and now I want to ask can you e-Mail me a download or one I can...

I cannot loacte an actual manual but....The Kamenstein Carousel teapot was part of the MKI versions of teapots Kamenstein released in the mid-2000s. The teapots came in a range of colors, from blue to red, and they had a small carousel on the top. As the water boils the carousel spins around, bringing an element of whimsy to your tea time. The teapots are all metal and can be used on any type of stove top.

    • 1 Fill the Kamenstein Carousel teapot with water just below the sprout.
    • 2 Place the Kamenstein Carousel teapot on the stove and set the heat to "Medium."
    • 3 Allow the water to come to a boil and remove the Kamenstein Carousel teapot from the stove.
    • 4 Pour the hot water into a cup over a tea bag.

Big chip in glass top burner

If you are looking to fix instead of replace (the better option) you will need to find a ceramic adhesive to put the parts back in place. You arn't going to find it at a hardware store. Try this link. It sells for about $20 bucks.

Small indention in glass top caused by porcelain tea pot left to cook dry.

No standard solution I know of. I understand that the bottom of the pot now has a "bulge" which keeps the pot from sitting flat -- is this correct?

You could try banging the bulge back down with a rubber hammer. There is a risk of cracking the porcelain, but probably worth the risk, since you probably don't want to use it as it is.

Smeg se336ss 5 some so and so has broken the outer glass door!

We removed the front glass of our oven door after a big spill between the two glass sections (by blunt force!). Since it took us 4 hours to put back together, we wanted to spread the info in case any others have the misfortune to make this mistake! Note, I wouldn't do this unless you have to, just incase you can't get your door back together again.

Assuming the back sheet of oven glass is still in position, but the front sheet is not attached -

1. Follow the manual instructions to remove the door, ensuring that both hinges are locked fully (otherwise you won't be able to get the door back on easily)

2. Once the door is removed, ensure that the plastic spacers that hold the two sheets of glass apart are in original position, resting on the inner door, at the bottom corners of the tempered glass

3. Remove the narrow metal strip at the bottom of the inner door by unscrewing the 3 screws that hold it in place. This is the metal groove that the outer pane of glass needs to rest in

4. Lay the outer sheet of glass in position in this metal strip

5. Lay the outer sheet of glass over the inner door. Slot the outer sheet into position at the top of the inner door first, ensuring it is layed flush at the top.

6. A second person needs to ease the metal strip back into place at the bottom of the inner door, so that the two sheets of glass are now held together at both top and bottom.

7. Screw the metal strip back into position with the 3 screws

8. Follow the manual instructions to replace the door. Ensure that the small grooves at the bottom of both hinges are resting in position correctly, otherwise the door will not close flushly.
