WHEN YOU BUY REFUBISHED ONE OR YOU DO IT YOURSELF THEY CANNOT BE RESET LIKE A NEW CARTRIDGE WOULD BE NOW LETS SAY IT IS A NAME BRAND HP CARTRIDGE THAN I WOULD TAKE BACK TO THE STORE AND TELL THEM THE PROBLEM AND LET THEM DESIDE THE PROPER WAY TO HANDLE THE ISSUE

IF IT IS REFEBERISHED TYPE OF CARTRIDGE IT SHOULD CONTINUE TO RUN UNTIL IT RUNS OUT OF INK, NOW IT IT STOP WORKING THAN THERE IS A BIGER ISSUE WITH THAT MACHINE AND YOU MAY WANT SOMEONE LOOK AT IT AND SEE IF IT WORTH FIXING

Ink levels for my HP 6510 printer

On the printer display, touch the wrench symbol, then touch Tools, then touch Estimated Ink Levels. It will show the estimated levels of each color, and you can change the indicated low ones or else wait until the prints show a problem.

How can i check which ink are out

Your printer should have come with a disk. This disk would have installed the necessary program that runs printing jobs, as well as keeps track of the ink level. Locate this program on your computer (may be under All Programs, Accessories under the Start Menu).
If not, Go into the Control Panel: (see below)
carsandcomps_3.jpg

Above, you see "Hardware and Sound"; and below that shows "View Devices and Printers. Click on this. It will then bring you into the below dialogue box, of which shows any and all printers currently installed and which are being used. (see below)

Once you have located your printer here - (name etc). Go into your Start Menu: In the Search Box at the bottom type "programs"; look for the words "show which programs are installed on your computer", should be the fourth in the list. Below is what the list will look like. Find your printer here to ensure it's installed.

Once you have determined it's installed, you need to locate the printer program in your file system. Once you retrieve this, click it to open it. The program should allow you to view the ink levels. With most printers, when ink is low it will automatically open a dialogue box showing the ink levels for each cartridge. If you're printer is not equipped with this feature, then the only way to know if any need changed is when printing a document, and any color is not present.
I apologize for such a long response, as I wanted you to know how to access these files. If you are printing, and all colors appear to be present, without fading, or "blotchy" spots, then your cartridges are still good. You should be able to do a print test (calibration or alignment test) to determine this as well.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

  1. Click Start or c01319360.gif , click All Programs , click Hewlett-Packard , and then click Printer Assistant .
  2. Click Utilities .
  3. Click View ink levels .
    • If a cartridge is low on ink, discontinue these steps, replace the cartridge, and then try printing again.
    • If the cartridges contain a sufficient amount of ink, continue to the next step.
  4. Click Printer Maintenance .
  5. Click Clean Cartridges .
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions.
ISSUE: After installing a new HP Inkjet print cartridge, the ink level indicator remains at the previous level. SOLUTION: Continue to print and ignore the ink level indicator. The print cartridge is full of ink, it just is not being measured accurately.

Near empty black

Take ALL carts out of the machine. leave scanner open and unplug from POWER OUTLET.
Wait 5min.
Replug to power. Wait until machine demands carts.
Insert carts again.
Close cover AND ANSWER THE DISPLAY questions if you have changed the carts. Give answer by pressing 1 (Yes) or 2 (**). You should answer for the new cart of course with 1.

This will reset the ink counter.
