Hardware malfunction - The system has halted

Hi,

I have some problems to startup my IBM intelliStation M Pro after trying to get BIOS and change it to start first the CD-Rom driver before the hard drive (C). Why? The reason is that I want to install UBURNTU by a CD. To get in BIOS (?), I pressed "Ctrl + A". Curiously, I found 15 devices, but only 2 are used. The device #2 which is used for (C) the hard drive and #7 the CD-Rom? (I suppose, not sure because I don't have knowledge of technical and computer). Others are written "no device". I check everything and went to everywhere I can move with the arrow (right, left, up, and down), I didn't find anything is said: "Hard Drive" and "CD-Rom" device. After all, I have changed nothing. When I took "exit", I was carefully about "yes and no", before pressing to any letter to "boot" the system as it is required.

After this, when I turn on my computer, I get this error message and it's said: "Hardware malfunction. Call your hardware vendor for support. *** The system has halted**

I tried several time from morning and evening to get start, but it didn't working. Currently, my monitor is dark likely it is not connected to the hard drive. The 3 lights (power, hard drive, and CD-Rom) of the destop are solid green, but the left one is flashing slowly. The power light of the monitor is orange, not green. Usually, when it's connected, it's green. So I don't know what to do. Could you help and tell me what to do, I will be very appreciate. Here are my questions:

1) How I can do to get start again my computer and connect again to my monitor?
2) How I do to get into BIOS and see Hard Drive and CD-ROM?
3) How to change my computer to startup at first the CD-ROM drive?

Thanks.

Doua Yang I get a hardware Malfunction blue screen also. I have to reboot ( sometimes 3-6 times) and then I can use. How do I fix this? Thanks.

Hardware Malfunction

Appears to be a memory problem. If you can get a bootable CD copy of memtest 86, set the bios to boot from the CD drive with this CD in, and the test will determine if the memory is good. Let it run for one complete pass, which will take awhile.

Startup password can't get into bois ibm t60 laptop tryed removing both battery and nothing i can't get it to do nothing

From your hardware maintenance manual:

Supervisor password: A supervisor password (SVP) protects the system information stored in the BIOS Setup Utility. The user must enter the SVP in order to get access to the BIOS Setup Utility and change the system configuration.

Attention: If the SVP has been forgotten and cannot be made available to the servicer, there is no service procedure to reset the password. The system board must be replaced for a scheduled fee.

Get messege,, hardware malfunction NMI:Parity chrck/ memory parity error system has halted

This is such a generic error because it is a Memory error but it could be from the Ram, video or processor or could even be a bad setting in the bios. I wish I could be of more help here but like I said it is such a generic error. I would suggest you take it to the place you purchased it and have them do the diagnostics on it.

Hardware malfunction call your hardware vendor for support NMI : Parity check / memory parity error the system has halted

Try the RAM modules one at a time in each slot. If issue is isolated to 1 module, replace the RAM module. If isolated to 1 slot, replace the Motherboard. If RAM changes make no difference, change motherboard

Toshiba satellite L300 wont boot

hi thanks for using fixya!

I suggest that if you could do a full scan (anti-virus) to your system. Then, do the disk defragmenter on all your drives, especially the system drive.

the last option is to reformat your system/laptop.

If you need further assistance, let me know.

pls rate me positively! thanks!
