Cannot associate with access point

I have a wrt54g router with a wusb54g wireless adapter.
Yesterday i bought a 'WUSB54GC Compact Wireless-G Adapter', cos my old adapter was giving me BSOD.

After I install everything from the cd for wusb54gc, the monitor opens up, but it can never connect to my wrt54g. i tried almost everything.
uninstalled my wusb54g program, tried changing ssid etc.

but it never works...can someone help me?

'Cos i'm getting a new computer in 2 days time and I don't want the adapters giving the new computer problems!

Thanks in advance

I have the WUSB54G wireless adapter. From time to time when I try to get on the internet, it will not be availiable. So when I double click on the icon to see whats going on it says that there is no association with the access point. Then after I turn off the computer for hours, everything will be fine. Well yesterday i tried that and it did not work

Go into your router configuration.

Take off all security so that anyone can join your network.

Set up your USB wireless and, once working, put the security password back on.

if your wireless router has security enabled, as a first troubleshooting step you can try disabling the security. then see if the USB adapter can connect. IF it still cannot conenct check for the default channel on the router and on the adapter side.

Problem connecting linksys wusb54g wireless to internet.

Sounds like you need to reboot the router and probably the cable modem. Unplug both, wait 30 seconds, then plug them back in. It can't hurt anything and it solves this problem 90% of the time.

configuration" after clicking on to that u can see a small computer with wireless waves in the right bottom corner, right click on to it click on connect to a wireless network..u can see ur SSId click to connect it...it will prompt for a network key..enter the key and confirm the key..it will connect for sure..hope it will work..if there is any issue just revert back as soon as possible..

WUSB54GC model wireless adapter won't connect after months of use

Instead of using the passphrase use the wep key 1 that you created on the router page when you generate it using the passphrase.

Then when you try to connect using the linksys wireless monitor just leave the passphrase blank and type in the wep key1 box the key that I mentioned earlier.

Can not connect adapter to laptop no installation CD-Rom

you have to install the driver for it to work and i assume that is not the case as you have no cd. Go here to download the driver. http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Download_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1115417109934&packedargs=sku%3D1134691790190&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=0993490190B03 When installed go to the properties of your adapter in network connections, then click on tcp/ip line and then properties and ensure obtain ip address automatically is ticked and press ok. You may also have to use the home network connection wizard if you havent previously to share documents over your network.
